I am a lifelong amateur martial arts enthusiast and past president of Euro FC Soccer Club in Rochester, Minnesota.
Why did you go into medicine?
I grew up in a medical family and in the community of the Mayo Clinic. As a result of these influences, I believe I always saw a career in medicine and surgery as the most fascinating career I could pursue.
How did you choose orthopedics?
As soon as I did my first rotation in orthopedics and saw my first orthopedic surgery, I was immediately hooked. The application of anatomy knowledge and the ability to help those who are injured or have limited function was something I could see myself doing, and loving, for a lifetime.
