This wasn't my first rodeo with Twin Cities Orthopedics... but it was my most difficult.
I am 62 years old. Over the years, I have had ACL surgery, left shoulder open rotator cuff repair surgery and full knee replacement surgery, all with TCO, and all of them very successful.
But this shoulder surgery was different. This one was bad. Three complete tears in the right rotator cuff and a reattachment of the bicep tendon. The surgery was much worse than anticipated and Dr. Robert Hartman had explained to me that there was a possibility of more damage than the MRI had shown...he was right.
After 6 weeks in a sling with no movement at all, my shoulder and arm felt like mush. I had lost all muscle tone and I didn't have the strength or motion to put on a pair of socks. I was devastated by the long road of recovery that laid ahead of me.
My initial visit with Wendy Morin at the Burnsville TCO physical therapy clinic was the first ray of hope that I had in the two months following surgery. She helped me gain confidence that the repair was strong. She thoroughly explained the nature of the repair and what I could expect in the months ahead. My therapy with Wendy was not easy. There really isn't any way to sugar coat the discomfort of therapy following this sort of surgery. As I began to gain strength and mobility back in my shoulder, Wendy understood my limitations and encouraged me to fight back in the clinic and at home. Every visit showed improvement. My confidence began to reappear, my strength started showing up and the light at the end of the tunnel became brighter everyday. Wendy was instrumental in my recovery. In my eyes, Wendy Morin is a true TCO Champion. Thank you Wendy!!
