About

Margi Heie, PT, MPT, OCS has been practicing outpatient orthopedic physical therapy in the Twin Cities since 2001. Having special interests in runners and running injuries, she has significant experience in treating lower extremity injuries. She is an expert in treating lower extremity biomechanics and injuries, including running gait analysis, and other lower extremity biomechanical analysis. She treats everyone from elite athletes to weekend warriors, and is able to cater her approach to the individual’s need. Margi incorporates a very hands-on style of physical therapy treatment including a variety of manual techniques, joint mobilizations, and dry-needling. All patients are also very involved in their healing process by following prescribed self-care techniques and their home exercise program.

A very special part of Margi’s practice is the hip. She is an expert physical therapist in treatment of hip-related injuries and dysfunction. She guides many athletes with hip pain from hockey players to dancers to yogis to runners get back to their sport. Margi is also involved in the creation and execution of a specialty mentoring program for physical therapist colleagues in treatment of the hip and other lower extremity injuries allowing her to share her knowledge base. In addition to mentoring fellow physical therapists, Margi has also served as an adjunct faculty member at a local Doctor of Physical Therapy program, and an anatomy/physiology instructor at a local massage school.
