Steven W. Meisterling, MD

Steven Meisterling, MD, is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who holds a subspecialty certification in sports medicine. He specializes in arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder, and elbow; joint replacement of the knee, hip, and shoulder; and elbow reconstruction.

Dr. Meisterling completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, with Dr. James Andrews. He received his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Meisterling is an orthopedist with special interests and advanced training in sports medicine. He has presented oral and poster presentations at national orthopedic meetings, is periodically published in orthopedic medical journals, and is a former team physician for the St. Paul Saints.

Dr. Meisterling’s outside interests include running, cross-country skiing, biking, hockey and spending time with his family. He is also heavily involved with the Stillwater Area Hockey Association.

About

Rachel Brang, PA-C, MSPAS, is a board-certified Physician Assistant who works in conjunction with Dr. Steven Meisterling to coordinate excellent orthopedic patient care. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). She assists Dr. Meisterling with surgery in addition to caring for patients in clinic and hospital settings. She earned her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies degree from Des Moines University in 2012. Prior to this, she earned her Bachelor’s in Biology degree from the University of Minnesota – Duluth where she was also a member of the women’s volleyball team. With her background as a collegiate volleyball player, she has a special passion for caring for athletes. As a board member and coach with the Stillwater Area Junior Olympic Volleyball Club, she engages and encourages athletics within the community. Outside of work, Rachel and her family enjoy playing volleyball, gardening, and spending time on the lake.

Clinical Assistant

Kayla E. AAS, RMA, has worked with Dr. Steven Meisterling since 2012 and has been with Twin Cities Orthopedics since 2006. She has had many roles within the practice, including Health Information Specialist and Clinical Documentation Assistant. In her most current role, she assists Dr. Meisterling and Rachel Brang, PA-C. She is responsible for coordinating clinic flow, scheduling surgeries, physical therapy and all additional tests required for patients. Kayla has a special passion for providing outstanding patient care, customer service and is the point of contact for all patient calls and concerns. She is certified through American Medical Technologists (AMT) and is also a member of their organization. Kayla loves the outdoors and spends a lot of time hiking, biking, camping and attending sporting events. Kayla and her family reside in Western, WI.
