Difference Maker: Dani C.

When we ask patients and their families about their experience at TCO, we often hear it’s the little things that make all the difference.

Every month we recognize a team member who went above and beyond to make a difference in the life of a patient. Often they did something that, if you asked them, “was no big deal,” or “is just part of their job.” But the truth is, their actions inspired others around them.

As a small token of our appreciation for making TCO a better place, we partnered with local artist Claire Ward to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art featuring an image of the recipient’s choosing.

Today we’d like to thank Dani (pictured with her husband) for being a Difference Maker.

Dani’s Story: X-Ray

Dani is someone who is known for her compassion, innovation and quick thinking under pressure. These attributes have made a major impact on both patients and co-workers, earning Dani multiple nominations for our Difference Maker award.

In one instance, Dani’s innovative thinking kept Chaska’s x-ray department on track after its machine went down. Typically, when this happens patients are sent to other clinics for their x-rays, but this can be time consuming and inconvenient.

Dani though, didn’t dwell on the problem; she found a solution. After heading to the surgery center, Dani returned with a mobile C-arm (a medical imaging device that is based on x-ray technology), and the x-ray team was able to start taking images immediately. Dani’s calm demeanor, teamwork and quick thinking kept the patients and physicians up-beat and optimistic during a stressful time.

Dani’s Story: Bedside Manner

Dani was also recognized for her kindness and grace, as displayed during a separate incident.

When a teenage patient was extremely nervous about receiving a pain injection, Dani took it upon herself to make sure this young girl was comfortable and relaxed. Without being asked or prompted, Dani knelt down next to the patient’s bedside, talked her through the entire procedure and made sure she was okay.

Thanks to Dani’s compassion, service and care, the injection went well, and a difficult situation was turned into a positive experience.

Dani has consistently shown that no matter the challenge, she always rises to the occasion.
