TCO welcomes new physician Dr. William Engasser

Join us in welcoming our newest physician, William M. Engasser, MD, to Twin Cities Orthopedics.

Dr. Engasser, a Minnesota native, was TCO’s first fellow in its inaugural Foot and Ankle Fellowship program. He specializes in elective surgery of the lower extremity and acute trauma. Dr. Engasser’s practice focuses on ankle, knee, and hip replacement as well as sports injuries and degenerative conditions of the lower extremities.

What are a few interesting facts that people may not know about you?

I’m originally from Chanhassen, MN. I was a hockey player in college and was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes. I still enjoy playing hockey and golf. I’m also an avid Minnesota sports fan and closely follow all professional teams here in the Twin Cities!

Why did you go into medicine?

Helping those in need is truly the most rewarding job. Medicine also runs in my family. My father is an orthopedic surgeon, and my sister is a dermatologist.

How did you choose orthopedics?

Having a father who is an orthopedic surgeon, I saw from an early age family members and neighbors treated at the dinner table or in the garage. This initial exposure piqued my interest but after seeing the incredible results from joint replacements early in medical school, I knew it was the specialty for me.

What does your dream practice look like?

Happy patients, no complications.

What is your care philosophy?

“A good physician treats the disease. The great physician treats the patient who has the disease.” I enjoy building customized treatment plans that fit each patient’s lifestyle and preferences. Aligning the patient’s goals with realistic treatment options gives you the best chance of success.
