TCO Welcomes New Physician Dr. Nathan Wanderman
Join us in welcoming our newest physician, Nathan R. Wanderman, MD, to Twin Cities Orthopedics.
Dr. Wanderman, a Hopkins native, joins TCO after completing his residency at the Mayo Clinic and his fellowship at Norton Leatherman Spine. He specializes in surgical and non-surgical conditions affecting the spine and neck. Dr. Wanderman’s practice focuses on treating spinal disorders such as disc herniations, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal cord compression, spinal deformities, spondylosis, spine tumors and fractures.

What are a few interesting facts that people may not know about you?
In my free time, I love playing piano and writing music. I wrote two musicals while attending medical school. I also greatly enjoy the outdoors and hiking, particularly mountain climbing. My wife is also a physician, and we are expecting our first child in the fall.
Why did you go into medicine?
I was born into a medical family, and both of my parents were pediatricians. As I got older, I grew to appreciate how meaningful their careers were. In addition, I wanted a career where I could directly help people every day. Medicine was a natural fit.
How did you choose orthopedics?
I chose orthopedics because I love the carpentry and engineering aspects of the field. The challenge of clinical evaluation and diagnosis, the complexity of the surgeries, and the opportunity to improve the quality of life for patients really appealed to me.
What does your dream practice look like?
My dream practice involves using the best technology possible to help patients heal faster, while continuing to use the tried-and-true principles established in the literature.
What is your care philosophy?
I aim to provide the smallest, least-invasive option for each patient’s unique problem. I consider my patients to be true partners in their care, and I will always take the time to fully understand their concerns and goals before deciding on a treatment plan together.
Dr. Wanderman will practice at TCO’s Eagan-Viking Lakes and Woodbury locations.
