Why the 7-Minute Workout still rocks

Why the 7-Minute Workout still rocks

Some things just get better with age. Originally introduced in 2013 by experts at the American College of Sports Medicine, the Scientific 7-Minute Workout is a simple, high-intensity bodyweight workout. Years later, it’s still a go-to favorite for busy parents, time-strapped professionals and people who prefer working out at home.

So, why does it still rock?

1. It’s simple.

Much like The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s 10-Second Rule, if you can perform a simple exercise for just 30 seconds, you can complete this full, effective routine. Thirty seconds of jumping jacks, 10 seconds rest. Thirty-second wall sit, 10 seconds rest. If you’re counting at home, we’re already almost one-fifth of the way done!

2. Other people love it.

A blogger made a free follow-along video guide, and as of September it had more than 491,000 views! People are using this workout, finding it effective as a jump-start to working out regularly or as a great filler workout during a particularly busy day.

If you prefer to follow along without human guidance, an easy-to-follow website video was created just for this workout.

3. It is designed by sports medicine experts.

There have always been fads in the world of fitness, but rarely is a workout backed by an organization as credible as ACSM, the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world with more than 50,000 members and certified professionals worldwide, including several Twin Cities Orthopedics doctors. In short, you can trust what they have to say.

At TCO, we do more than just fix broken bones. We are committed to helping each individual patient find confidence and happiness through an active, healthy lifestyle. Whether you’ve never tried yoga and are looking for free classes, or are a world-class athlete seeking state-of-the-art training facilities, you’ll find it here.

Do you still need motivation to try the 7-Minute Workout?
