Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO) is being recognized for producing cutting-edge scientific orthopedic research.
TCO physicians are internationally renowned educational leaders who are passionate about research and continually transform healthcare.

Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO), one of the largest orthopedic groups in the country and Official Orthopedic Provider for the MN Vikings, is pleased to announce that two of its physicians will be presenting their research at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Specialty Day at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) conference, March 1-5, 2016 in Orlando, FL.

Based on the quality of in-depth sports medicine research, Dr. J. Chris Coetzee and Dr. Christopher M. Larson were selected to present their respective topics.  TCO is one of the top orthopedic research institutions both in Minnesota and nationwide.

Both Dr. Larson and Dr. Coetzee are internationally renowned sports medicine orthopedic surgeons and are frequently invited to present at conferences worldwide.  Dr. Larson is a Sports Medicine Fellowship-Trained Orthopedic Surgeon and is currently the Head Orthopedic Team Physician for the MN Vikings and former Team Physician for the MN Wild.  Dr. Coetzee is a Foot and Ankle Fellowship-Trained Orthopedic Surgeon and is also currently an Orthopedic Team Physician for the MN Vikings.

“It is unique to have a private orthopedic group such as TCO with such a high volume of cutting edge research presented locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally,” said Dr. Larson.  “TCO physicians have consistently presented and been educational leaders at the AAOS conference.”

On March 5, as part of the AOSSM Specialty Day, Dr. Coetzee will present a paper on “Functional Outcome of Sesamoid Excision in Athletes” and Dr. Larson will be speaking about “Characterizing Radiographic Hip Anatomy and Relationship to Hip Range of Motion and Symptoms in National Hockey League (NHL) Players.”

287 abstracts were submitted for this Specialty Day, of which 21 were selected to present.  Nine (9) were from the Midwest and 3 from MN.  “It really is an honor to be invited to speak at the AAOS annual meeting,” said Dr. Coetzee. “This conference is considered to be the world’s most prestigious annual orthopedic meeting and the invitation to participate speaks volumes about the quality of researchers and physicians within our organization.  We should all be very proud to be part of this group of orthopedic thought leaders.
