KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Glenn Fleisig, PhD

Glenn Fleisig, PhD, is the Biomechanics Research Director of the American Sports Medicine Institute and the founding President of the American Baseball Biomechanics Society. He also serves as an advisor to Major League Baseball, Little League Baseball, and USA Baseball. Dr. Fleisig earned his engineering degrees from MIT, Washington University, and UAB. Dr. Fleisig has published 200 scientific articles, delivered 350 presentations throughout the world and has been interviewed for thousands of stories by the media. He has also personally worked with thousands of athletes from youth to professional levels.

 

 

Rafael Escamilla, PT, PhD

Dr. Escamilla is currently a Professor of Physical Therapy and Director of the Biomechanics Laboratory at California State University, Sacramento, and Research Coordinator at Results Physical Therapy and Training Center in Sacramento.  He previously served as Director of Research at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, FL, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, Director of the Michael W. Krzyzewski Human Performance Laboratory at Duke University, and taught biomechanics and anatomy courses in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Duke University.  Dr Escamilla received a Ph.D. Degree in Biomechanics from Auburn University in 1995.  He also received a Master of Physical Therapy degree from Elon University in 2002 and has practiced as a physical therapist since 2002.  He has been a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) since 1991 and has taught numerous C.S.C.S. classes and workshops, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.  His area of expertise is in Sports Medicine and Sports Biomechanics. He has published over 200 peer reviewed scientific papers, abstracts, and book chapters in biomechanics, physical therapy, and sports medicine related journals and textbooks.  He has given nearly 150 professional presentations at scientific conferences, primarily in the areas of knee biomechanics during exercise, overhead throwing biomechanics, and strength and conditioning.  He has worked with numerous high profile professional athletes focusing on training and rehabilitation, athletic performance, and injury prevention.  In 2015-2016 Dr Escamilla was chosen the outstanding senior faculty researcher at California State University, Sacramento, and in 2014-2015 he was chosen the outstanding researcher for the College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Sacramento.  Dr Escamilla has won three national and international powerlifting championships, and was a collegiate athlete in football, baseball, and track.

Corey Koskie

Corey Koskie is a former professional baseball player who played for 15 years.  He played a little over 9 years in the Major Leagues for the Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs. As a rookie for the Twins, he was the first player since Kent Hrbek to hit over .300 his first full season. Finishing the year hitting .310 he earned a spot on the Topps Rookie team. His best year came in 2001 where he became the 1st American League 3rd baseman in history to have a 25/25/100/100 season, which is 25 HR,25 SB, 100 RBI, 100 runs scored. That year he hit 26 HR, had 27 SBs, 103 RBIs, and 100 runs scored. He was a career .275 hitter and finished his career with 124 HRs and 506 RBI’s. In 2009 he retired after spending 2.5 years battling Post-Concussion Syndrome. He was elected to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015 and was voted as a top 50 Twin all-time. Post Career Corey Koskie has been very active in youth sports and entrepreneurship.  He has coached 100 amateur sports teams and has started and ran multiple businesses. He owned the first Planet Fitness’ in Minnesota and ran them until he sold them in 2016. He recently sold his ownership of a solar install company he owned. Currently, he has a website linklete.com and beapro2.com to focus on changing behavior in youth sports.

Q: What is the dress code and PPE restrictions?

A: Wear something comfortable as we will be moving around. COVID restrictions will be addressed closer to the event date and based on CDC guidelines at that time.

Q: Where do we enter Securian Financial Club at CHS Field?

A: Just north of the main gates at the Securian entrance.

Q: Where should I park?

A: Please utilize any of the surface lots or ramps surrounding CHS Field. Additional parking information can be found here.

Q: Will food be provided?

A: We will provide a light breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and a light breakfast on Sunday. Any specific dietary restrictions or food allergies should be noted during registration.

Q: (For TCO staff only) Does this qualify as an “internal” course for my CEU budget?

A: Yes, this is considered an “internal” conference. Please complete the registration process along with payment and submit. Once submitted, you can report the expense for reimbursement through Concur.
