Difference Makers: Ben Stasik

If you have to visit an Orthopedic Urgent Care clinic, you can bet that Ben Stasik is going to do everything he can to make things better. His genuine approach to care and helping each patient makes him one of our Difference Makers.

What’s your title and role?

I am a PA-C, a certified physician assistant. I work at the Orthopedic Urgent Care (OUC) clinic in Waconia and provide care to our walk-in patients.

How long have you worked at TCO?

I worked on a casual basis in the Waconia OUC for several years before moving to full time in fall 2015.

What’s your favorite thing about working at TCO?

This is a close tie between the people I work with and the patients I see. My co-workers are friendly, easy to get along with and, most importantly, focused on taking care of the people who come to see us. 

Our patients are generally grateful for the services we provide. I see patients of all ages and from all walks of life presenting a wide variety of orthopedic pathology. I enjoy interacting with our patients and love the variety.

Hands down, the best thing is seeing the patient who walked in near tears walk out with a smile on their face. 

How do you make a difference? What does it mean to you to help patients and their families?

I provide the highest quality of care I can to every patient I see. I take time to review the patient’s X-rays with them, explain their diagnosis and answer every question they have before they leave my exam room. Because I am genuinely interested, I take the time to get to know the patient by making conversation and relating to them on a personal level. My goal is to have every patient I see leave knowing that they received the best care available and that the person providing it genuinely cares about them.

To me, making a difference in a patient’s life or the life of a family member is satisfying. It’s just that simple. It feels really good to make someone else feel better.

What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my family, swimming, hunting, woodworking and being outdoors as much as possible.
