Paralympian, gold medalist Mallory Weggemann partners with Training HAUS to prepare for 2020 Tokyo Games

Training HAUS, a state-of-the-art sports performance and training center located at Viking Lakes, today announced its partnership with two-time Paralympic swimmer Mallory Weggemann of Eagan. Powered by Twin Cities Orthopedics, Training HAUS offers elite athletes like Weggemann a full suite of services — including strength and sports performance, massage and physical therapy, nutrition, sports science, recovery and more — all under one roof at its 22,000-square-foot facility.

Weggemann will conduct her dryland training regimen through regular workouts with Training HAUS’ team of experts as she prepares for her third consecutive appearance at the Paralympic Games, to be held in Tokyo in August 2020. Weggemann previously won gold and bronze medals at the 2012 London Games and also represented Team USA at the 2016 Rio Games.

“I’ve seen noticeable progress in my performance since starting my work at Training HAUS,” Weggemann said. “Competing at this level requires having an incredible team, and the team of experts and best-in-class facilities at Training HAUS ensure that I’m pushing myself to gain the edge that I need.”

Weggemann will next compete at the World Para Swimming World Series, April 1-6, in Indianapolis. This April also marks the 11th anniversary of her return to the pool three months following the injury that left her a paraplegic with complete loss of movement from the abdomen down.

“All of us at Training HAUS are inspired by Mallory’s story and proud to be helping her work toward her goal of getting back to the podium in 2020,” Chris Bailey, TCO Vice President of Sports Medicine and Therapy, said. “She is an ambassador for her sport, and we look forward to supporting the great work she does beyond the swimming pool as well.”

As part of the partnership, Training HAUS will also support Weggemann’s advocacy efforts for disability rights through speaking engagements and community involvement.
