Osteoporosis Case Study #2: Radius Wrist Fracture
This patient is a 68-year-old female who sustained a left wrist fracture. She fell on her outstretched hand while walking her dog. She immediately had wrist pain with an obvious wrist deformity.
This patient’s X-rays show a fracture of the radius bone (arrow) with significant displacement.
The patient was treated with surgery. A plate and screw were used to realign and stabilize her wrist.
After the fracture healed, the patient was able to return to all of her normal activities with full function and no pain.
