Dr. Kyle Morgenstern is a general orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement including knee, hip, and shoulder replacement as well as the comprehensive treatment of musculoskeletal conditions including meniscal injuries, rotator cuff tears, ligament/tendon tears, hand conditions, and orthopedic trauma.
Originally from East Peoria, Illinois, Dr. Morgenstern completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Bradley University before pursuing a medical degree at Southern Illinois University. After completing medical school, Dr. Morgenstern completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Minnesota, where he was frequently recognized for his dedication to patients and mentorship to other trainees. He received the Resident Engagement Award in 2021 and the Resident Role Model Award in 2022 from the University of Minnesota.
In his practice, Dr. Morgenstern values patient autonomy and encourages every patient to be a part of the decision-making process. Rarely is surgery the only answer, and he will work together with you to create a care plan that achieves your goals in a welcoming, team-based environment.
In his free time, Dr. Morgenstern and his wife enjoy the Minnesota outdoors through hiking, camping, canoeing, cross-country skiing, biking, and golfing.
Ankle care, including treatment of ankle sprains, ankle ligament injuries, Achilles tendonitis, Achilles tendon tears, and ankle fracture surgery
Elbow care, including treatment of tennis/golfer’s elbow, distal biceps and triceps tendon injuries, biceps and triceps tendon repair, and fracture care including distal humerus, olecranon, and radial head/neck fractures
Fracture care, including comprehensive operative and non-operative fracture care including proximal humerus, humeral shaft, elbow, forearm, wrist, hand, hip, femur, tibial plateau, tibial shaft, ankle, and foot fractures. This frequently involves open reduction internal fixation (ORIF), intramedullary nailing (IMN), or closed reduction and percutaneous pinning (CRPP) of broken bones
Foot care, including non-surgical and surgical treatments of hindfoot, midfoot, and forefoot arthritis, hallux rigidus, Morton’s neuroma, plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, and common foot fractures
Hand care, including non-surgical and surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, trigger thumb, and common hand and wrist fractures including distal radius fractures, scaphoid fractures, and metacarpal fractures
Hip care, including hip replacement (total and hemi-hip arthroplasty) including revision hip replacement and conversion of previous hip surgeries to hip replacement, non-operative treatment of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and snapping hip syndrome
Knee care, including knee arthroscopy including meniscal repair, partial meniscectomy, meniscal root repairs, chondroplasty, loose body removal, osteochondral debridement, ligament reconstruction including arthroscopic-assisted BTB and hamstring ACL reconstruction. knee replacement surgery (total knee arthroplasty (TKA)), including revision knee replacement surgery
Pediatric care, including treatment of upper and lower extremity sprains, sports injuries, and fracture care including closed reduction and casting techniques
Shoulder care, including acute and chronic rotator cuff tears, rotator cuff tendinitis/bursitis, subacromial impingement, acromioclavicular (AC) joint arthritis, glenohumeral (shoulder) arthritis, proximal biceps tendon injuries, shoulder separations, shoulder instability including Bankart lesions, shoulder arthroscopy, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic subacromial decompression, arthroscopic distal clavicle excision, arthroscopic biceps tenodesis, mini-open biceps tenodesis, arthroscopic Bankart repair, Latarjet procedure, arthroscopic SLAP repair, and shoulder replacement surgery (including anatomic, reverse total shoulder replacement, TSA, or RTSA)
Sports medicine, including non-surgical and surgical treatment of a broad range of sports injuries in athletes of all ages (see specific body region above)
