I recommend Dr. Scott Anseth to everyone I know that has knee problems. I had replacements of both knees 5 years ago, have no pain. I play softball year-round. It has changed my life as far as activities and moving around.

I felt so lucky to have Dr. Heikes as my physician. The whole process from getting an appointment to having surgery was seamless. I felt that she gave me individualized care and could really relate to my wants and needs as a patient.

The services I received from Dr. Larson and his staff were superb. I have never been treated as well as I was there. From his staff at Twin Cities Orthopedics over to Crosstown Surgery Center; are all very considerate and made this whole ordeal as good as it could be. I’m continuing PT at one month post-op currently. Look forward to gaining my physical health back and living pain free again.

Dr. Meyer came highly recommended from a friend, and I was very pleased with the care I received from him for my ACL reconstruction surgery. He and his team were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process, and displayed genuine concern for me. The surgery was a success and I feel much better, plus I am able to get back to my physical activities once again.

Robert P.

My name is Robert and I am 44 years old. I was experiencing pain in my right leg where the femur bone meets the hip socket. Before I was properly diagnosed I thought it might be my lower back or something in that area. I first went the route of the Chiropractor, Acupuncture, and back / hip injections. All of these procedures gave minor, temporary relief only. I am a Line Maintenance manager at Northwest Airlines and a member of the Minnesota Air National Guard. The first orthopedic doctor I went to see took X-rays, told me my Air Force career was over, tossed me a pamphlet on total hip replacement and said “Pick out a hip type you would like” and left the room. My wife and I just looked at each other, unbelievable! Here I am, 44 years old, with a bad hip and a pamphlet. My son Isaiah has a friend who had a knee and hip replacement performed by Dr. Hartman. Isaiah said his friend had negative results from previous surgeries and Dr. Hartman fixed him up and he was good to go. What did I have to lose? When you walk into Dr. Hartman’s office you are greeted warmly by professionals. I was taken to the X-ray room and some pictures were taken of my hip. My wife and I were then seated in the examination room, and waited to meet Dr. Hartman. The doctor walks in and I already feel at ease; his demeanor is wonderful. He asked me what I like to do for activities, I tell him, and he says “After the procedure is completed and I heal, I’ll be able to do all of these.” Big difference from the first doctor I was seen by! My x-rays were put on the computer screen, Dr. Hartman told me what was wrong, and what he could do to help me; he even had a prosthesis in the room to show me what it looks / feels like! I was very comfortable with the doctor’s explanations and made an appointment for surgery. Through the whole process from your initial visit until your last visit, you will have many questions. Lisa Nelson, Dr. Hartman’s assistant will be able to answer your questions and help you along the way. She is a total professional. On surgery day you will probably be in the operating room less than 2 hours. You will have the option to just stay overnight (which I did) or 3 days. My wife had a hospital bed sent to our home and it really helped in the initial days following the operation. You can raise / lower it to help get in and out of bed. I was walking 3 hours after the procedure with a walker. I walked down the hallway the next day without any aids and was discharged. It took me about a week to start feeling really good. Patients need to be diligent and do the exercises religiously. Now I have no pain at all and Dr. Hartman was right on the money with his initial comments, “You’ll be able to resume your normal life style.”

For 2 years I suffered with chronic hip pain. I had gone through the usual MRI’s, physical therapy and other treatments and nothing helped. My diagnosis was a mystery to all doctors. I then ran into an old high school friend, we reconnected after 30 years and she told me about her brother Robert Hartman who was one of the top Twin Cities orthopedic surgeons. I made an appointment and met with him and mystery solved, my hip cartilage was gone, bone on bone along with bone spurs. In two years I had advanced arthritis and a total hip replacement was my only option to lead a pain free life. I knew immediately that Dr. Hartman would be my surgeon, he made me feel so comfortable and made my decision very easy. The staff at Twin Cities Orthopedics was fabulous as well, there was no doubt in my mind at almost 50 years old I wanted a better quality of life. The surgery was a success, the physical therapy was a fabulous experience for me, my coach gave me weekly self esteem boosts and gave me the confidence I needed to get my new hip where it needed to be. I am now over 3 months with my new hip and pain free, I’m now walking up to 3 miles a day and haven’t been able to take walks for 2 years. Having this hip replacement changed my life and I owe it all to Dr. Hartman and his team.

Dr. Anseth is the best. I had severe swelling and pain from my injury and he saw me on a Saturday (his day off) and did everything possible to aid in my recovery.

Thank you to Dr. Olmsted and Team for your work on my VERY arthritic finger joint! At now just over four weeks, my joint replacement feels good, moves well and I am finally typing, crocheting and writing comfortably again! At 51 years old I wasn’t ready to give in to stiffness and pain and your work is exceptional. Best thing I did in 2014!! You guys rock.

Four years ago, in November 2010, I fell off a ladder and fractured both of my ankles.  The emergency room doctor told me my ankles were severely broken or more specifically they were “bi-lateral pilon” fractures.  The doctor described the fractured ankles as “impressive” (or doctorese as terrible breaks but repairable).  The doctor further explained that a pilon fracture is where the break is caused by vertical pressure similar to stepping on a pop can from the top and causing the bones to be crushed.  But, my original orthopedic surgeon “patched” me up with 4 plates and 30 screws and restored my ability to walk again.  But the loss of the cartilage in my ankle joints caused me to hobble through life.  In addition the loss of the range of motion in my ankle restricted the distances and the pace that I could travel.

Prior to my accident, I was active with a keen sense of adventure.  My wife and I love to travel and have a special love for the area north of Ely, MN known as the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW).  Although following the accident, my mantra was “Staying home is not an option…”, but I now had physical limits to what I could achieve.

As it turned out, the brother of a dear friend recently had ankle replacement surgery performed by Dr. Coetzee.  She gave glowing reports of how his life had returned to normal following his surgery and how he resumed his passion for long distance bike rides.  So, on July 5th, 2012, I hobbled into Twin Cities Orthopedics with my wife to meet with Dr. Coetzee.  After what seemed like a “bazillion” questions, we agreed to schedule surgery to replace my right ankle in September 2012 followed by surgery to replace my left ankle in March 2013.

Day by day, step by step, PT by PT my ability to walk returned and the hobble was replaced with a normal gait!  …and best of all, I could now resume my sense of adventure and travel.  Although I understood that I still needed to make wise decisions about which adventures to choose.

To illustrate how far I have come, here is a photograph of me hiking the Path of the Gods trail (Sentiero Degli Dei) that is located on the Amalfi coast just east of Positano Italy with my wife and special friends.  The section of the trail that we hiked was moderately rugged along a 4 mile path 1500 feet above the Bay of Salerno with sweeping views of the Amalfi coast.  Jaw dropping beautiful!  The island of Capri is visible 15 miles away.  Experiencing this “bucket list” adventure was only possible with my new ankles.

Every day and every step is a blessing and a miracle…so much to be thankful for!
