J.W. Matheson, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, graduated from the Mayo Clinic of Health Sciences in 1996 and completed the first public APTA credentialed Sports Physical Therapy residency at Gundersen Sports Medicine in Onalaska, WI, in 2001. He holds board certification in both sports and orthopedic physical therapy. In 2005, J.W. earned his transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. Since 2000, he has maintained certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

As a respected author, clinical researcher, and instructor, Dr. Matheson has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed research articles on specific exercises for the spine, knee, and shoulder. Actively involved in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), he serves on various legislative and research committees both locally and nationally. J.W. is a staunch advocate for science-based medicine and cost-effective solutions in the treatment of common musculoskeletal conditions. His commitment and passion lie in assisting individuals of all ages in returning to the sports and recreational activities they love.
