Twin Cities Orthopedics President Steps Down After 19 Years

Golden Valley, MN (February 1st, 2021) After 19 years as President of the Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO) Board of Directors, Dr. David Holte has stepped down, completing an impressive tenure during which TCO became one of the largest independent orthopedic practices in the country. Fellow TCO partner and practicing orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Owen O’Neill, has been named Holte’s successor.

19 Years of Growth During Holte’s remarkable run as President, TCO has experienced incredible growth and success. In an effort to keep healthcare local, the practice has expanded to include 35+ locations and 1,500+ employees, without sacrificing service or quality of care. 99% of patients would recommend TCO to family and friends, an undeniable testament to Holte’s leadership.

Meanwhile, the practice has developed deep relationships within the local community. In 2016, Holte was instrumental in securing TCO’s high-profile partnership with the Minnesota Vikings, which helped the practice become a household name. However, under Holte’s guidance the company never lost sight of its small-town roots, supporting hundreds of local organizations and events each year across the metro.

When asked what he is most proud of from his time as President, Holte said, “I am most proud of the Be The Difference culture we’ve built, and that’s thanks to the people inside our organization. There are so many incredible individuals who have made TCO a special place to practice medicine and provide care. To think that we could grow, expand and change so much over the years, while achieving 99% patient satisfaction, says it all. I have deeply appreciated this opportunity to lead, and I’m excited to watch Dr. O’Neill and the team continue to make TCO, and healthcare in general, better for everyone.”

The Next Chapter O’Neill has been an orthopedic surgeon in the community for 25 years, and has served on the TCO Board of Directors since 2009. O’Neill has been instrumental in guiding the practice toward the future via value-based care initiatives, utilizing patient-reported outcomes data to improve care while reducing costs. Notably, TCO’s nationally-recognized EXCEL Surgery & Recovery program recently celebrated its milestone 5,000th patient.

“This is an extraordinary honor,” said O’Neill. “Many people don’t realize that we are an independent practice, owned and led by physicians. Being named President of the Board of Directors means my partners trust me to help guide us into the future, and it’s a responsibility I take seriously. There’s no question I have large shoes to fill. Dr. Holte has humbly led this organization through decades of success, and I’m grateful to be following in his footsteps.”
