Dr. Michael Meisterling is a board certified sports medicine fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee injuries and conditions. His focused expertise includes primary and complex joint injuries including knee ACL/PCL/MCL/FCL repairs/reconstructions, knee alignment (osteotomies), patellar instability, shoulder arthroscopy for instability and rotator cuff tears, along with shoulder, hip, and knee arthroplasty.
Dr. Michael Meisterling joined Twin Cities Orthopedics (formerly St. Croix Orthopedics) in 2005 after completing a fellowship in sports medicine at Adidas Sports Medicine in Auckland, New Zealand. Dr. Meisterling received his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska and completed his residency at the University of Minnesota Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Meisterling is a general orthopedist with a subspecialty certification in sports medicine. He is published in national medical journals and has lectured on various orthopedic conditions. Dr. Meisterling is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

My experience with Dr. Michael Meisterling and his entire team was excellent. Dr. Meisterling is a very skilled surgeon. He has assembled a remarkable team. Each and everyone one of them I found to be skilled, kind, considerate and helpful in every way. My left knee replacement was on 11-24-20 at Osceola Medical Center. My right knee replacement was on 1-19-21 at Lakeview Hospital. Both facilities were also excellent. If I were to give Dr. Meisterling a score of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, I would give him a 10+. Myrna J.

Suddenly I awoke one morning with a swollen right leg and right knee so painful I couldn’t bend it. Familiar with TCO, I looked on my computer for the knee expert and made an appointment! I saw Dr. Meisterling only twice and found him to be kind and straightforward, pinpointing the cause of my problem immediately but agreeing to my preference for an MRI. He scheduled the MRI as efficiently as he kept the time of his appointments with me. Of course the MRI bore out his original diagnosis, and he suggested trying a cortisone shot for my 86 year old knee to see how that goes. Dr. Meisterling is not interested in foolish attempts at third rate humor and one must respect him for that.

I can’t say enough about the wonderful care I received from Dr. Michael Meisterling and his entire team. We came from out of state to have my knee replaced and his PA Shaun was great with our follow-up, answered all our questions and made it easy to go back. Kristi was so helpful before surgery with planning and working with our schedules, making it so easy to come into the Stillwater area and meet with Dr. Meisterling and then have surgery in the next few days, it was so great. Also, as stated, the entire group was great, the insurance people, the schedulers, and also the wonderful PT department at TCO. Everyone gets a 10/10, it was a very positive experience from all persons involved and I would highly recommend anyone considering any orthopedic concern to see this group. Thank you so much!!!!

Wife had an appointment at Twin Cities Orthopedics with Dr. Michael Meisterling’s team today. She checked in, and they called her before my Keurig coffee brewed. Once in the room they took her to x-ray before I took a drink of my coffee. CPA Shawn O’Keefe came in after my 1st sip of coffee. He was very pleasant and thorough. Took off the dressing, talked over the x-rays, answered our questions, filled out her leave of absence forms and faxed them, then gave her a script for pain meds. I have NEVER been in and out of a doctor’s visit that fast in my life. VERY impressed.
A note to thank you again for my good, healthy life. I am still pain free after knee replacements in June 2009 and April 2011 in Amery, WI. At 88 years old, my husband Louis (86 years old) and I go swimming and to fitness classes 4 times a week. I play cards, go to coffee, and do my housework. I think often of you and I thank you.

I am 4 weeks post-op and I feel like I could take my first spring bicycle ride. This was my second knee replacement by Dr. Meisterling and I was quite apprehensive as I was 10 years older. I would recommend Dr. Meisterling and Lakeview Hospital every time. Starting with the joint replacement class, surgical day, and hospital stay I received excellent care. Thanks to all!

I am so happy about my new knee. It has been practically pain free. I can move around so much better and I feel I have a new lease on life. Dr. Meisterling and staff were very professional and were concerned about me before, during and after care. I am relieved it is over but all in all a great choice I made.

I could no longer walk so I had both knees replaced. They are doing great and I have had no problems. I can walk now – this procedure gave me a whole new life.
I was in a lot of pain with my shoulder after surgery but now it is almost pain free. A little more time and I think it will be pain free. I like Dr. Meisterling and I have all the confidence in the world in him. I recommend him to anyone that needs surgery. I cannot speak too highly of him. He is the best. Has a great sense of humor too.

I had two knee replacements with Dr. Michael Meisterling and his PA, Shaun O’Keefe. I had my left knee done about 4 months ago and my right knee 4 weeks ago. I had a wonderful experience with the surgery. The surgery center at Lakeview in Stillwater was great and the nurses and staff, as well as Dr. Meisterling, made me very comfortable. Even the food was great! I would definitely recommend Dr. Meisterling to anyone considering a knee replacement.
