What’s an interesting tidbit about you?

My family and I lived in Anchorage, Alaska, for four years while I worked as a trauma/joints surgeon at the Alaska Native Medical Center. We spent a year overseas doing medical mission work in Nepal, Zimbabwe and Peru.

Why did you go into medicine?

To arrive at work each day knowing I am there to improve people’s lives.

How did you choose orthopedics?

Restoring function while working in the medium of musculoskeletal anatomy, and mitigating complications through careful planning and problem solving — to me, are the ingredients that make orthopedics a satisfying blend of thought and action.
