TCO breaks ground on therapy and sports performance center in Waconia

Twin Cities Orthopedics broke ground Tuesday on a premier physical therapy, hand therapy and sports performance center in Waconia.

Twin Cities Orthopedics Therapy & Sports Performance, located at 820 Village Way, on the southwest corner of Main Street East and Airport Road, is scheduled to open in fall 2019. With more than 18,000 square feet of space, TCO’s new therapy and performance center will serve as a destination for physical rehabilitation, hand therapy and athletic performance enhancement in the west metro.

“Waconia is a dynamic community with excellent, well-established TCO partnerships,” Chris Bailey, PT, DPT, OCS, TCO Vice President of Therapy and Sports Medicine, said. “Ridgeview Medical Center will be a partner in this exciting project.”

The center will serve as a hub for physical and hand therapies and sports performance services, complete with a rehabilitation pool, 45+ yards of indoor turf, high ceilings, conference capabilities, and group fitness options for all ages and abilities.

“What I love about these spaces is they allow a knee-replacement patient to be comfortable and confident in the care they are receiving, while also being an engaging environment for a high school athlete or weekend warrior to train,” Bailey said about the new project. TCO Therapy & Sports Performance will offer insurance-based rehabilitation and individual or team sports performance programming under one roof.

TCO’s latest addition to Waconia will be located just 2 miles from its clinic and Orthopedic Urgent Care.

“TCO is thrilled to be expanding the services we offer in the Waconia market area,” CEO Troy Simonson said. “TCO has been a longstanding orthopedic practice in the community, and the TCO physicians look forward to opening a physical therapy, hand therapy and sports performance center focused on high quality and an outstanding patient experience. The services and site will be very similar to sports performance centers TCO has opened in other metro markets.”

The new construction shows TCO’s desire to continue to be orthopedic leaders in the market.

“TCO physicians are committed to an expanding Waconia and the quickly growing surrounding communities,” Jeffrey Mair, DO, said. “This center will allow us to offer the breadth of services in one space like never before in the area. Not only will it take care of surgery and recovery, it also will enhance sports performance and injury prevention.”
