I had ankle replacement surgery with Dr. William Engasser back in February, and I couldn’t be happier! I broke my ankle 20+ years ago and over time, my joint had deteriorated to total bone-on-bone. I had severe pain anytime I stood, much less walked. That pain is now gone, and I am slowly getting back to the many activities I was forced to give up. Most importantly, I was able to dance at my son’s wedding two weeks ago! Dr. Engasser always took the time to answer my questions and address my fears. I never felt rushed during appointments. His enthusiasm gave me the confidence to go through with this procedure, and he never made a promise that he didn’t keep. I highly recommend Dr. Engasser and his team.

Dr. Engasser has performed a couple of surgeries on me now. His warm personality and confidence put any concerns I had about my procedure at ease. He has certainly corrected my feet to the point where I’m leading a full life again. I trust him to give me the truth and perform the care to the highest degree possible.

I just wanted to take a moment to recognize my surgeon, Dr. Engasser. I am 59 years old and just received a total ankle replacement from Dr. Engasser at TCO. The care and consideration Dr. Engasser and his staff provided to me has been fantastic, both prior to surgery and after. The ultimate decision to have ankle replacement was thoughtfully laid out by him over the course of a year. Nothing was rushed, all options were considered, and a final agreement on treatment was decided. I am 3 months post-op I am walking under my own power and getting stronger each day. Through an injury, we discovered that my daughter had an extra bone in her foot that was causing continued pain. We were informed that there was a surgery she could have to remove this bone and we proceeded to meet with Dr. Engasser. I think there’s an idea that we all have of what surgeons are like and they’re not always good. From the moment Dr. Engasser walked into the room, I knew he was going to be different in a very good way. He was so incredibly friendly and kind and immediately related to my daughter on her level. He took incredible time and care in answering all of our questions and I never once felt pressured to make a hasty decision. We decided to move forward with the surgery and everything went incredibly well. Dr. Engasser and the entire staff at TCO Burnsville were wonderful. I was so impressed by Dr. Engasser’s professional yet kind manner. He was able to explain what was going on with my ankle instability and how we would work to fix it. Each time I spoke with him and his staff I never felt I rushed, rather valued! Bravo Dr. Engasser and team. I’m completely healed and active once again!

Dr. William Engasser was just amazing! He removed some hardware in my ankle that was giving me pain from a surgery over two years ago. He listened and offered a solution that would not have me laid up again for months. The surgery went so smoothly! During the whole process he was kind, empathic, and extremely professional. He also has a fantastic team that work with him. They are all so friendly and truly caring people.

If you find yourself in need of being put back together, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Engasser. In August 2023, I tripped and fell forward. I landed very hard on my left side and literally couldn’t move. After being admitted to the hospital and told the news, I was told by Dr. Engasser that he would be performing surgery to fix my broken femur/hip the following morning. He explained the procedure and timeframe. The next 12 hours were a blur. When I woke after surgery, Dr. Engasser was there telling me surgery went great and that I should be up walking later that day. True to his word, with the help of internal hardware and a walker, I was up and walking that day.

At a final follow up visit after PT, Dr. Engasser said the X-rays were textbook perfect. Bone growth and anchors were exactly where they needed to be. There was no difference from leg to leg, and no glitches in gait when walking. I felt I’d been given a miracle. Dr. Engasser and his staff are by far the best orthopedic specialist team I could have been blessed with. I’m 68 years old and have broken a lot of bones. I am just so very thankful Dr. Engasser was on call the weekend I needed him. Absolute best!

After 10 years of foot pain and being diagnosed with stress fractures, I went to see Dr. Engasser. He immediately ordered a MRI due to the length of time that I had been wearing a post-surgical sandal and dealing with the pain. I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve between my toes. We tried the cortisone shot and unfortunately that didn’t work. He performed surgery on the left foot, and for the first time I’m walking pain free. I can’t believe the difference this has made in my life. If you are having any problems with your feet I highly recommend Dr. Engasser.

I want to thank Dr. Engasser for being so professional, proficient and kind during my surgery experience. I had so much pain in my foot and with surgery, but now I am able to do everything I want to. I experienced such a smooth and non-problematic journey, from the first visit with Dr. Engasser until the last. My foot is healing so well. I feel very blessed to have had such a good surgeon. Unfortunately our daughter slipped on the ice and took a spill. We went to a local hospital and she was misdiagnosed for about 2 weeks. They gave us a boot and told us everything would be fine. We were lucky enough to talk to a friend who recommended TCO as a second opinion, as we felt a little uneasy about her pain level and progress. Once we did, they recognized right away that it was a tri-fracture and she needed to get emergency attention.

Dr. Engasser took on our daughter as a patient right away and saw her the next day. He was able to reset her foot and start the healing process. 8 months later she has no effects from the tri-facture. We are so thankful for his quick, decisive, and informed actions. He talked with his colleagues, he talked with us, and he made us feel confident about every step of the way. Again, I will never go to another place for my orthopedic needs. Had we stayed the course and didn’t seek out a second opinion at TCO, she would be walking with a limp. Instead she’s playing basketball with her friends right now.

One morning my son slipped on the ice at work and broke his ankle. I rushed to his work not knowing what to expect but I knew it was bad if he asked them to call me. When I got there he was sitting in a wheelchair with a very unstable foot. I called my husband to let him know that we were on the way to TCO. As soon as I pulled up in front of the building, the medical team were waiting at the door to receive him. They took him straight to get an X-ray and confirmed his ankle was broken. When I saw the X-rays, I knew right away this was a major injury.

Coincidentally, Dr. Engasser was just finishing up a procedure when he was called for a consult. He said this needs to be fixed right away. He asked my son if he had eaten and thankfully he had not. Dr. Engasser gave us an overview of the procedure and said it would take about 45 minutes to repair. He asked us if we wanted him to take my son to surgery now or wait. I was shocked by his response as this was the day before Thanksgiving and he was finished with his case load for the day. My husband and said in unison, “let’s do it today”. Dr. Engasser called pre-op and booked the procedure. Not knowing how long we would be there, I took my girls back home so they didn’t have to wait. I was on my way back and my husband called and said the procedure was DONE.

The surgery went well and his post-op scan was beautiful. Dr. Engasser repaired the ankle with screws that were placed beautifully and with surgical precision. The entire process from the time we entered the facility until the time we left was 4 hours. Nothing in medicine, especially involving surgery takes 4 hours! I’m still in awe because if we were at a hospital, we would still be waiting.

I began having chronic ankle pain two years ago and noticed that I was frequently rolling the ankle with normal daily activities. I saw Dr. Engasser and Tiffany to figure out what was wrong and my treatment options. After conservative management for a year, I decided to pursue surgery to repair a torn ligament. Dr. Engasser is kind, compassionate, and a skilled surgeon. I also appreciate his joyful demeanor. I spend time with doctors as part of my job and I will say that Dr. Engasser stands out as one of the very best providers that I come into contact with. I have been very pleased with the medical care that I received from Dr. William Engasser and his PA-C, Tiffany Fletschock. The results of the surgery were beautiful. My recovery went well and I am grateful to be regaining my mobility. Dr. Engasser really does treat the whole person. He takes the time to explain technical things in a way that is easy to understand. It is obvious that Dr. Engasser is well prepared for his role as a surgeon, as it’s evident by the knowledge he possesses. Dr. Engasser guided me as I considered options regarding both of my feet. There are different options out there and he allowed me to consider those options to make the right decision for me. My experience with Dr. Engasser was 100% positive! He is knowledgeable, positive, precise, and caring. I had a seriously broken ankle and dislocation when I showed up in urgent care (with no idea of the damage I’d done). He spent an entire day working on the ankle to fix the dislocation and got me into a cast pending the reduction of swelling and scheduled surgery. The first surgery resulted in a nonunion and a second surgery had to be performed. Dr. Engasser brought an additional surgeon in on the second surgery to have assistance. He continued to monitor my progress diligently, offering honest assessments of my progress and always providing an encouraging word. When I had a concern about my progress notes and wrote to him about it, he wrote back to me at nearly midnight to indicate that he would be looking into it and making sure a correction occurred. I simply cannot say enough good things about this doctor, you can trust him 100%, both technically as well as having authentic interest in your wellness.

Dr. Engasser patiently listened as I anxiously shared detailed history related to my right ankle. In order return to running, I’d been referred by my son and a coworker to TCO where I met Dr. Engasser. I’d been doing some research and had a great deal of anxiety about what might be needed to reach that goal. Based on MRI results, he diagnosed and prescribed a much less invasive solution. It is with a grateful heart that I share this and without hesitation, recommend Dr. Engasser.

After a fall, I had two broken bones in my foot. I was treated at another clinic, by a very rude doctor, who delayed my recovery with the wrong treatment. Twin Cities Orthopedics was recommended and I saw Dr. Engasser, who was very kind and helpful. He had me wear a boot and I was on my was to recovery. I highly recommend him!

My experience with Dr. Engasser’s practice was outstanding. He let us know immediately that no question was too small and he shared the scan images, upon which he based his evaluations. I am 78 years old and I never felt like he treated me any differently than he might treat younger patients.

I was very pleased and impressed with Dr. Engasser’s knowledge, observations and examinations of my foot. I was uncertain about his recommendation for a steroid treatment initially, but after talking to him I felt it was a very good option. Staying healthy and active in winter is hard enough. When you add COVID on top of that, it seems impossible! Feeling cooped up, I decided to meet a friend to play some tennis at an indoor court. Just as we were finishing up, I felt my ankle roll. Originally, I thought I could walk it off, but after taking 4 steps, I knew the pain I was feeling wasn’t going to go away on its own. It was something not even ice and elevation could fix. That’s when I contacted TCO to start my healing process.

I met with Dr. William Engasser and his team, and they were so kind and caring. We discussed my injury, and it was determined I had sustained a Lisfranc injury of the foot. Dr. Engasser and his team went through the step-by-step process of how my recovery would go and made me feel safe in their hands.
