Dr. Hanson was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He grew up playing any sport he could find, and this gave him his first exposure to the world of sports medicine. He attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities before going on to medical school at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed Family Medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and then returned to Minneapolis to complete a one-year Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Minnesota where he enjoyed working closely with high school, college, and professional athletes around the Twin Cities.
During fellowship at University of Minnesota, Dr. Hanson was fortunate to experience a broad range of sports medicine training including caring for high school athletes at the Academy of Holy Angels as well as Division 1 athletes at the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas. In addition, he was able to gain experience with professional athletes, working closely with the Minnesota Twins organization and the St. Paul Saints.
In his free time, Dr. Hanson enjoys spending time with friends and family including his two young children, playing golf and finding pick-up basketball games.
