Arthroscopic Surgery

Arthroscopic surgery is surgery done through small incisions made at a joint to allow the surgeon to view the joint using a camera (arthroscope). This can be done at any joint. By using a camera the surgeon is able to explore the joint to further diagnose and then treat problems.

What types of problems can be treated with arthroscopic surgery?

Arthroscopic surgery is a very effective treatment for many joint problems including cartilage and tendon tears, cysts, loose fragments, and more. Arthroscopy is not a good treatment option for arthritis.
