Celebrating Our Physician Assistants!
We are taking the week to celebrate our wonderful physician assistant (PA) team! Throughout the week we will highlight a few of our PA’s and help you further understand what they do at St. Croix Orthopaedics (SCO).
What is a physician assistant?
A physician assistant is a medical professional who works as part of a team with a doctor and is a graduate of an accredited educational program. They are nationally certified and state-licensed to practice medicine with the supervision of a physician.
They carry out the following:
- Perform physical examinations
- Diagnose and treat illnesses
- Order and interpret lab tests
- Perform procedures such as injections
- Assist in surgery and round at hospitals
- Apply and remove casts and braces
- Provide patient education
