Difference Maker: Lanae S.
When we ask patients and their families about their experience at TCO, we often hear it’s the little things that make all the difference.
Every month we recognize a team member who went above and beyond to make a difference in the life of a patient. Often they did something that, if you asked them, “was no big deal,” or “is just part of their job.” But the truth is, their actions inspired others around them.
As a small token of our appreciation for making TCO a better place, we partnered with local artist Claire Ward to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art featuring an image of the recipient’s choosing.
Today, we’d like to thank Lanae (pictured with her husband) for being a Difference Maker.
Lanae’s Story
Winnie the Pooh once said, “Sometimes the smallest things, take up the most room in our hearts.”
There is no better example of this, than a beautiful moment between Patient Services Coordinator Lanae and a young, non-verbal patient with Down Syndrome.
As Lanae watched the boy play on the floor with his toy cars, she could tell his mother was becoming distracted by his noise level. Aware that she was trying to register her son for an appointment, Lanae stepped in without hesitation, and what happened next was truly special.
With a warm introduction, Lanae laid down on the floor next to the boy and began playing with him. Soon, the pair were quietly racing toy cars through the chairs in the waiting room.
At TCO, we pride ourselves on quality service, and though this act may seem small, it left a huge impression on the child and his mother.
Once the forms were finished and it was time for his appointment, the boy gave Lanae a big hug, with an even bigger smile on his face.
Thank you, Lanae, for providing such quality service, being an outstanding teammate and leading with integrity. You inspire us all!
