Difference Maker: Olivia K.

When we ask patients and their families about their experience at TCO, we often hear it’s the little things that make all the difference.

Every month we recognize a team member who went above and beyond to make a difference in the life of a patient. Often they did something that, if you asked them, “was no big deal,” or “is just part of their job.” But the truth is, their actions inspired others around them.

As a small token of our appreciation for making TCO a better place, we partnered with local artist Claire Ward to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art featuring an image of the recipient’s choosing.

Today, we’d like to thank Olivia (pictured with her fiancé) for being a Difference Maker.

Olivia’s Story

Olivia is someone who consistently goes above-and-beyond the call of duty, and her ability to stay calm, cool and collected made all of the difference in a very serious situation.

When the elevator doors opened, a patient who had fainted inside collapsed to the floor. Without hesitation, Olivia immediately went into action and provided the highest quality service possible. Dropping to the ground, Olivia began talking the patient through where he was and what had just happened.

At the same time, Olivia directed one co-worker to call an ambulance and another to get help from the physician the patient had just seen. All the while, Olivia stayed with the patient and kept him comfortable, safe and soothed. Olivia even provided him with a quiet therapy room while Emergency Medical Services were on their way.

Thanks to the quality, compassion and overall service Olivia provided, the patient received the care he needed in a quick, effective manner.

Olivia has proved time and time again, she will go the extra mile to exceed expectations, no matter how difficult a situation may be.
