What’s an interesting tidbit about you?
I love to travel, and I love being an orthopedic surgeon. I have been fortunate enough to combine the two by participating in international orthopedic missions consisting of teaching, operating, learning and sharing my knowledge in places like Bhutan, Ghana and Vietnam. I hope to continue to share my experiences with people all over the world, and at home, throughout my career.
Why did you go into medicine?
My father was a doctor, so I was exposed to medicine from a young age. I have always been interested in science and the human body, but I also enjoy meeting and learning about people. Medicine seemed like a natural fit where I can meet patients every day and use my knowledge of science and medicine to help them get where they want to be.
How did you choose orthopedics?
In medical school, I quickly realized that I wanted to be a surgeon and use my hands to fix problems. I also knew I wanted to work with orthopedic patients because they are very motivated people who are hurting but want to get back to enjoying everyday life without pain. I want to help my patients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life so they can keep doing what they love.
