TCO Welcomes New Physician Dr. Andrew Schmiesing
Join us in welcoming our newest physician, Andrew M. Schmiesing, MD, to Twin Cities Orthopedics.
Dr. Schmiesing joins TCO as a sports medicine fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon. He completed his residency at the University of Minnesota and his fellowship in Sports Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Orange County, CA. Dr. Schmiesing’s practice includes sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery, with an interest in joint replacement of the hip, knee and shoulder. He is an assistant team physician for his alma mater, Stillwater High School, helping take care of all athletes and injuries.

What are a few interesting facts that people may not know about you?
I grew up in Stillwater, MN and attended Stillwater High School where I was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball. I was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 2007, and played three seasons of professional baseball. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports with my boys, traveling to the mountains and working outside.
Why did you go into medicine?
I went into medicine, because I wanted to do something rewarding yet challenging while making a positive impact on people’s lives.
How did you choose orthopedics?
I chose orthopedics primarily for the opportunity to help athletes and active people stay healthy to achieve their goals.
What is your care philosophy?
I work to educate and help patients understand their condition and treatment options. I want to communicate with my patients to develop a treatment plan which is best for them and their unique situation.
What does your dream practice look like?
My dream practice is one that revolves around the patient experience and maximizes patient satisfaction, which in turn, makes my job more rewarding and fulfilling.
Dr. Schmiesing will practice at TCO’s Osceola, Stillwater and Woodbury locations.
