Excellent experience! I was home in one day and I never required use of a walker or cane. Went back to hot yoga five times per week after my six week check up. Pain free! I hiked in Europe (Corsica and Sardinia) less than six months after replacement. It was a 15 day trip with 4-7 hours of hiking per day.

Remarkable! Great care from a great team!

Who’d want to have surgery again?
DON’T point a finger at me
for once was enough
till the pain was so tough
if I had one more hip, I’d do three!

I’m thankful for Dr. O’Neill
who opened me up once before
with a saw and a chisel
my blood, it did drizzle
and my hip, he did then restore!

Oh, hippity doo dah day
the “Sunshine” is bright and intense!
Hip Two has been done
and now I can run
and stand in my own defense!

The tools in the surgeons’ hands
plus such gifted use of recall
since the brains in his head
with “study” were fed
and our God created it all!

Thank you dear Lord for this doc
you’ve so blessed him with talents and gifts
as he’s shared all these skills
one now needs less pills
NO PAIN, thus their spirit uplifts!

A new person I now have become
and old person, not anymore!
This doctor has given
new life that’s now driven
A life that he thus did restore!

A man’s life is much like a river
God can mold it to twist and to turn
If he follows God’s leading
his skills thus exceeding
yet he’s forever still open to learn!

May our focus be less on the material
for all things soon wither and die
but the gifts from above
are given in love
to extend humanity’s cry!

Lord bless this dear doctor his life
and continue to fill and restore
his pep and his skill
along with goodwill
to share with a hundredfold more!

Two hip poems I thus now have written
my surgeries have come to an end
these poems are sincere
about a surgeon’s career
and a surgeon I still recommend!

Dr. Comfort has done my knee replacement and my rotator cuff repair. He performs excellent surgery techniques and informed me of what to expect during recovery and when I would be back to normal activity. Very professional and knowledgeable in orthopedics. Dr. Comfort cares about his patient and gives high quality care. He has excellent staff, Molly his nurse, and David his assistant.  Together they a make a necessary surgery easy to understand. They explain what needs to be done, and are also available to answer your questions. They are kind, caring, and are looking for your best care possible. I highly recommend Dr. Comfort for your orthopedic care!

In 2006 my left foot had totally collapsed. I had seen 4 podiatrists & 1 orthopedic foot specialist, all with different outcomes – a surgery recommendation that just did not sound right to me, a brace, and custom orthotics which didn’t help at all. Then my primary physician recommended Dr. Coetzee. I was able to get an appointment in 4 months (I lucked out!) and scheduled my foot reconstruction 2 months later. He was worth the wait! Then in 2014, my right foot needed plate and of course Dr. Coetzee was my doctor. I do a lot of dancing and I am back to doing it all – Latin, Ballroom, Swing – with no limitations whatsoever. Not only is he the best, but he is compassionate and he listens. Thank you Dr. Coetzee.

I hurt my wrist at work and I was sent to WestHealth in Plymouth. After seeing a occupational doctor and a physical therapist, I saw Dr. Bakker. I spent 2 minutes with Dr. Bakker and he knew exactly what was wrong. Dr. Bakker surgically repaired my wrist and got me back to work. Dr. Bakker’s knowledge is incredible and impressive. The way he treats and interacts with his patients is what sets him apart. My stress is gone and I feel completely comfortable when I am with Dr. Bakker. I truly wish he could be my primary care physician.

On June 27th I was admitted into Waconia hospital for a complete shoulder replacement. Dr. Mair and the team did a great job of preparing me for the events of the day. Based on the health of the rotator cuff, I would have regular or a reverse replacement, judgement call by Dr. Mair during surgery. I don’t remember anything about the surgery, but recovery on Monday night was as expected. Tuesday morning I was on a regiment of medication and was kept very comfortable and was released Tuesday afternoon.

At home Wednesday morning I felt great, stiff and a little sore, but no pain to speak of. My last pain pill was taken on Wednesday in the morning and I have not needed Tylenol, Motrin or any OTC drugs. I did keep up the Aspirin to assure I did not have issues with clotting. I share all this with you as a lead in to a huge THANK YOU to Dr. Mair and the entire team. Everyone was extremely professional, caring and helpful. I could not have had a better experience.

I was asked by a co-worker, “On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, what did you think of the experience?” My answer was 20.

My sincerest and heartfelt THANK YOU to the entire TCO/Dr. Mair team, you are the BEST.

It worked!  There were no surprises and I have no pain.  I could not be happier with my experience. Arthritis had raised havoc on one of my ankle joints.  Injections were helpful for the short term, but I needed to find a long term solution.  After several consultations I chose TCO’s Dr. Jeffrey Seybold.  After reviewing x-rays and CT scans he determined that ankle fusion surgery was my best option.  Dr. Seybold was very thorough in explaining what would be done and what to expect during recovery.  Even though it was a tedious protocol to follow during recovery – it was a pleasant experience at TCO with Dr. Jeffrey Seybold.  I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Seybold for any ankle/foot issues.

WOW! Nice job! I feel like a new person. Surgery on L4, L5, and S1 allows me to walk, stand, and move around without pain. I feel 20 years younger!

No hidden agenda in this post. I am a 52-year-old, white, obese female with borderline diabetes and osteoarthritis who was seeking a full knee replacement. Let the story begin!

I am writing this for patients who delay, for those who are afraid, for those who cannot decide, and for those who think, “I can’t do this.” Take a moment and listen to my story. It will not only get you to change medical doctors/clinics, but also let you know, “If I can do this, you can do this!”

Five and a half years ago, I began seeing Dr. Thomas Comfort. I was bone-on-bone and had a destroyed meniscus.  On April 19, 2016, Dr. Comfort and his team completed a full knee replacement on my right knee (yes, the leg I drive with). Today, I have not one regret. My life is forever changed. This opinion is based upon the guidance I received; the support I received from medical staff; the precision of the knee replacement procedure; and the support I received overall from Dr. Comfort and his staff. They are amazing!

In October 2015, I watched and cared for my older sister when she had her knee replacement. It was at this point I realized preparation was not just important, but pertinent. I began the exercises outlined to build all of my leg muscles. I used an elliptical we had at home. On January 31, 2016, I quit smoking after nearly 30 years of smoking. I enrolled in the Quit Plan Program. On March 3, I joined Weight Watchers. I began eating healthier and exercising passionately. On April 19, 2016, the day of my surgery, I weighed in at 28.7 pounds less than my pre operative assessment with Dr. Comfort.

I was discharged from the hospital on April 21 and admitted to a transitional care unit. I was discharged from this facility after 10 days. Shortly after discharge, I was informed that my replacement post operative care was denied by insurance. This was a huge setback for me. I was scheduled for my second knee replacement on May 23. Emotionally and intellectually I was devastated. How could I afford to repay this debt when I did everything I was supposed to? The denial was because I “walked 200 steps before being discharged from the hospital.” I began working on my appeal and, AGAIN, Dr. Comfort and his staff supported me in this endeavor without hesitation. I was notified on May 2 that my insurance reversed their decision and agreed to pay for the entire replacement. My appeal documentation was over 19 pages. Hard work paid off!

I started outpatient therapy, and within four weeks my therapist indicated she had never discharged someone after five sessions. At this point my range was 135; average for a knee recipient, at best, is 120. We took two weeks off. I returned for three more sessions to support things such as getting off the floor, building my muscles in my hips, and gaining a stable gait. June 14 I graduated from outpatient therapy.

As of today, I have lost a total of 42 pounds, nine inches in my hips, and four inches in my chest. My healing is not over, but I continue to work to be healthy and mobile for future grandchildren. It was not easy. It was so painful—the worst I ever felt. However, my physician and professionals working with me did an astonishing job reinforcing the need to exercise and pushed me thru the pain. I am planning on a second knee replacement in April 2017.

What are your plans for your knee? If I can do it, seriously, anyone can!

Thank you so much!

Dr. Christian DuBois is not only a skilled and gifted surgeon but an excellent communicator.  He has completed 2 cervical fusions for me C6&C7 2012 and C5&C6 May 2016.  Both fusions although different in technique have been highly successful in relieving constant headaches, severe arm and neck pain.  Dr. DuBois was always very conscientious in explaining options and procedure, never rushing our appointments, while always listening to my concerns.  He empowered me as a patient in letting me know the final decision was mine. To quote my husband, “He is a miracle worker.”  It cannot go without saying Dr. DuBois’ assistant Bonnie is a one of a kind, efficient, caring, and compassionate person.  She has seemed like a lifeline for me on many occasions.  I will continue to recommend Dr. DuBois and his team with the greatest of confidence. A simple thank you does not seem like enough.
