I first met Dr. Gulli in 2008 as I had a major MVA in which I suffered femur fractures to both legs, a broken ankle, a severely damaged left ankle, a broken nose, and several lacerations.  Dr. Gulli was called to perform my surgeries on my femurs and ankles in the emergency room.  It is now 2016 (8 years! WOW!) and I have healed very well and quickly due to his amazing work.  I was told I would not walk without help for up to 12 months, but I was up and walking in 3 months with cam boots and a walker.  I have rods in both legs from hip to knee and hardware in my ankle as well and I have had no issues with the hardware at all.  I had my arthroscopy in June of 2016 due to torn meniscus and misaligned knee cap.  I am healing well with that as well.  I praise him for the work he did for me, he made it so I was able to walk again after several months of PT but I did it!  Dr. Gulli is very patient orientated and is thorough in what he does.  I feel comfortable going to him and will recommend him to people in need of orthopedic care! Great doctor, great surgeon, and great facility!

I have had pain in my left hip for many years, due primarily from arthritis. I put off seeing a doctor about it until I asked nurses at Wyoming Fairview Hospital who they would recommend for such a surgery. Dr. Thomas Comfort exceeded all my expectations. His before surgery interest, questions and care was exactly what I had hoped. He saw my difficulties with any walking and stairs. Surgery was scheduled as soon as possible. Following surgery, even in the hospital there was only minor discomfort. He scheduled in house physical therapy which was just what was needed to get my hip working without pain. In three weeks, I was walking normal, and doing the steps without pain, and now bicycle riding pain free.

It has been 3 months now, I am totally pleased with Dr. Comfort’s skill in surgery and his followup advice. His team of caregivers, the PA and nurses all were extremely helpful.

Words can’t express the severe pain that my bone-on-bone hip caused me.  My total hip replacement procedure went extremely well and I was fortunate to not have a single pain in my hip after surgery.  I went home the next day.  What a relief it is to once again be able to put on and tie my shoes, get into low cupboards, and do all the other things requiring a good hip.  I would refer Dr. O’Neill to anyone suffering from hip problems.  He and his assistant, Jessie, provided me with the best care and support one could hope for.

I had an incredible experience from start to finish. Dr. O’Neill and the staff were wonderful, and the EXCEL Program is excellent. Would recommend to anyone.

Excellent experience! I was home in one day and I never required use of a walker or cane. Went back to hot yoga five times per week after my six week check up. Pain free! I hiked in Europe (Corsica and Sardinia) less than six months after replacement. It was a 15 day trip with 4-7 hours of hiking per day.

I applaud all of your great nurses and physical therapists for the great care I received in your overnight unit in Edina. I found all the nurses to be tremendous, so caring and sweet. The physical therapists were also great and the room was wonderful. Overall, a super experience with your EXCEL program. Thank you so very much!

I had left hip replacement surgery on March 8, 2016, performed by Dr. Thomas Comfort. Prior to my hip surgery I could barely walk. Dr. Comfort assured me prior to the surgery there would be instant improvement. I had my surgery performed at the High Point Surgery Center in Lake Elmo and participated in the EXCEL Program. I cannot say enough good things about the positive experience I had at High Point with the surgery and all the staff; I received “excellent” treatment and care. I want to thank Molly, Dr. Comfort’s assistant, for her assistance and her promptness in replying back to me with questions and the rest of the staff members at Twin Cities Orthopedics.

I was sent home the day after my hip surgery with a walker and I’m happy to say I never had to use it once – I was walking on my own! I recovered very well from my surgery and have resumed all activities. Down the road if I need to have my right hip replaced I will definitely consider going through the Excel program again at the High Point Surgery Center.

After putting up with annoying hip pain for a number of years (with the help of three cortisone injections) I finally did the right thing. I witnessed two good friends make remarkable recoveries after having Direct Anterior Hip replacements performed by Dr. Owen O’Neill. With their encouragement and glowing recommendation of Dr. O’Neill, I had an initial visit in early December, 2015. I am no spring chicken (62) but am physically active. I shared my hope to get through March (ski season) have my hip replaced in early April and be on the golf course by the first of June. Dr. O’Neill’s response: “Good plan-we can do that” so, with one final cortisone shot, I was off to ski in Big Sky, Montana! Unfortunately, I decided to play hockey on a couple of weekends in February which prevented me from ANY activity in March. The date of my surgery couldn’t come soon enough. April 6, 2016- NEW HIP! One night in the hospital, walking with no assistance on day 3, no pain medication by day 7. First round of golf six weeks after surgery, back to walking over thirty miles each week. I look forward to next ski season. Thank you Dr. O’Neill, Jessica, and Alyssa for your care and medical gifts. Truly unbelievable!

I should have written this sooner. It has been almost a year since my hip replacement surgery and I just wanted to say that Dr. Brian O’Neill did an amazing job. His type of hip replacement (anterior approach) is less invasive and thus, I felt, contributed to a quicker recovery time for me. 3-4 hours after surgery I took a short walk with a walker. I was discharged the next day after my physical therapy and went home using only a cane. I took just two weeks off of work (my decision) and was walking without my cane the second day of work. My hip has been great ever since. I am able to walk 18 holes of golf and couldn’t do that before surgery. Before my decision to have hip surgery I was a 62 year-old man walking like a 92 year-old and now I feel as good as new and often wonder why I waited so long.
I also wanted to mention that his coordinator Bethany and all the staff and nurses at Maple Grove Hospital were fantastic. It was a pleasant experience.
In all I highly recommend Dr. O’Neill, his staff, and Maple Grove Hospital.

I am extremely pleased with the overall process with the whole experience from hospital care to Dr. Comfort and his staff. I cannot find any complaints with the hospital, staff or Dr. Comfort. Before the surgery I was not able to be active with the pain I was having, but since the surgery I have my life back and am living again without pain. This was a life changing experience.
