Orthopedic trauma specialists are typically called in immediately to treat complex orthopedic injuries at hospitals, but they also treat patients with lingering issues that result from previous trauma, such as poorly healed fractures and bone infections. Similar to other orthopedic specialists, trauma surgeons receive additional specialty training in order to deeply understand the nuances of treating traumatic injuries to any part of the body.
