Scott G.

Thank you Dr. Dick, Brandon and your team! Just 5 months after my herniated L4-5 disc surgery, I had a great ski trip to Copper Mountain and Vail, Colorado. Between that trip and local skiing, I’ve only been out 12 days this season and I’ve had ZERO problems with back or leg pain. I have skied pretty intensely and feel great. I’ve been quite religious about the PT exercises prescribed to me, with no complications. After a couple of outdoor bike rides in early November, I now ride my stationary bike at home 4-7 days a week. Last summer I was concerned about my ability to be active in the future, but you can mark me in the “win” column for success with my surgery and recovery. I’m now looking forward to getting back to water skiing and biking this summer. Test

After his son graduated from college, Ken C. and his two sons planned a “bucket list” hiking trip through the Andes Mountains to the legendary Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. Seven weeks before their departure, Ken ruptured two discs in his lower back while playing tennis. “Instead of preparing me for the trip my favorite sport had just knocked me off my feet,” he said. “Not only could I not exercise for the trip, I couldn’t do simple movements like getting into my car without heavy pain medication.” Unable to walk more than 50 feet at a time, Ken consulted with Dr. John Sherman. When Dr. Sherman ordered an MRI, Ken’s trip was just over 4 weeks away and his hopes of completing the hike were fading. “He and I discussed the various treatment options but it was obvious to both of us that I wouldn’t be hiking in my current condition.” Dr. Sherman recommended microdiscectomy surgery on a Friday and it was performed on Monday. “By Tuesday, and I’m not exaggerating, I was pain free,” he said. Shortly thereafter, Ken was taking walks around his neighborhood, slowly increasing his workload. He wasn’t sure he was going on the trip until the day of departure, but opted to give it a try.Ken completed the 4 day hike, which began at an elevation of 11,000 feet and reached an altitude of 14,500 feet before descending into Machu Picchu. He and his sons carried 20-25 backpacks and slept in tents along the way. It was “a trip of a lifetime that would not have taken place without the skills of Dr. John Sherman and the team at Twin Cities Orthopedics,” said Ken.

Sally N.

Sally Ness had a 2 year history of back pain following a car accident. She was referred to Med-X Neck and Back Therapy at Twin Cities Orthopedics to help her “be her best, again.””The Med-X treatment relieved me of the persistent back pain I was experiencing. I had already completed two treatments of physical therapy that helped but did not eliminate the pain. I was fortunate enough to have a doctor refer me to Paul Biewen, MD who prescribed Med-X treatment. The Med-X treatment delivered by therapist Kari Cox, PT along with the series of stretching and strengthening exercises that Kari had me complete relieved me of my back pain. My son Dylan was also referred to Dr. Biewen and is now in Med-X treatment. The Med-X treatment has relieved him of pain and is teaching him how to maintain a healthy back by properly stretching various muscles, especially his hamstrings and strengthening various muscles, especially his lower back.”
