At the beginning, all children are scared of their parents having surgery and then we met Dr. Crowe. He put all our fears behind us and took amazing care of my mother. My mother is very happy with the treatment she got. Dr. Crowe was on top of things, always had her best interest in mind, and I never felt that she was at risk. Thanks to Dr. Jason Dieterle and TCO’s EXCEL Program, I’m feeling great after a total knee replacement. In fact, just 3 months after surgery, I had more mobility in my knee than I’ve had in the past 15 years. Dr. Dieterle was very professional, honest, and straightforward. As a toolmaker for over 30 years, I’m someone who appreciates quality work, and Dr. Dieterle went the extra mile to make sure I had a great experience. Just recently, I returned from a bucket list fly fishing trip to Canada that I couldn’t have done without this new knee. I already have my next trip scheduled!

My wife and I both suffered from severe arthritis in our thumbs. We both followed Dr. Fischer’s non-surgical treatment plan, and ultimately took his advice to have the related surgery. With each of us having the surgery on both of our thumbs, we carefully timed them to give each hand recovery time between surgeries. Between the two of us, we have always had one functional hand! Today we both have the function of our thumbs back, without the arthritic pain that had severely limited our daily activities. Long story short, and four thumbs later, we are both grateful to Dr. Fischer for his surgical skills to give us back the function of our hands, and his excellent staff that took care of all the administrative, physical therapy and nursing details.

After 10 years of increased pain and loss of flexibility, I decided to see a surgeon about my hip. Dr. Sanders assured me I was a good candidate for total hip replacement. The operation and recovery went amazingly well! After two months, I decided to have my second hip done because the first one went so well. I am walking pain-free and have better flexibility than I have had in years. Dr. Sanders and his team did an amazing job for me!

In October of 2021, Dr. Norberg performed surgery on my right shoulder to remove calcium and arthritic build up in the shoulder joint. Dr. Norberg did a fantastic job on the surgery. I especially like how honest he was about expectations for recovery and the outcome. What he had laid out for me is what happened. 7 months later I have full range of motion and strength that exceeds what I had prior to surgery. I am golfing, making deck modifications on my home, doing paver patio installation and many other activities. I don’t even think about my shoulder or the pain I once had. The physical therapy directed by Dr. Norberg was the key to my recovery. Thank you for your great work!

After a knee replacement and the second of my two shoulder replacement surgeries, I feel qualified to say that Dr. Kelly and his team (Lindsey Anderson, PA-C and Care Coordinator Kaici Gulbrandson) have made my life so much better than it would ever have been without their incredible work. I cannot envision how Dr. Kelly’s skill as a surgeon could be surpassed anywhere. It is nothing short of incredible. What a gift he is to the Twin Cities!

I’ve always been an athlete and at almost 57, the advanced osteoarthritis impacted my quality of life. Dr. O’Neill was very straight forward with my options. I highly recommend Dr. O’Neill for total hip replacement and wish I’d done it sooner! I’m now able to walk without pain or a limp, stand up without pain and was able to return to biking and CrossFit after 8 weeks. I can even cover 2 miles in 32 minutes when walking and haven’t walked that fast in years! I’m in a better mood and overall happier without the chronic pain and limitations.

After much thought and several examinations by different care givers, it was clear that my right hip required replacement. I’m 74 years old and the thought of total hip replacement was daunting. I was worried about how quickly I would heal and be able to walk again without pain. I decided to go with Dr. Lewis for the surgery. The surgery went well thanks to Dr. Lewis and the care giving by the team was very good. Three weeks after surgery I was walking without any aids. I am very happy with the results; thank you Dr. Lewis and team!

When I met with Dr. O’Neill for my post-op check-up seven weeks post-surgery (anterior hip replacement), I told him he was a genius. I can’t say enough good things about him and the staff at TCO. From my first meeting, through surgery and post-op, Dr. O’Neill listened to me and sought to understand my situation. He was caring and compassionate, knowledgeable, thorough and encouraging. I felt confident in his ability to help me, and at ease under his care. I was surprisingly calm as I faced major surgery.

The entire staff was always available to answer my questions (and I had a LOT!) and when I met personally with Dr. O’Neill, he seemed to “settle in”, not in a hurry to move on to the next patient. Pre- and post-op instructions from both TCO and the hospital were very clear.

I had some conflicting diagnoses prior to seeing Dr. O’Neill but from my first visit with him, I knew he was on the right track. I had struggled with back and hip pain for 18 months and lost much of my mobility, and my zest for life. Dr. O’Neill and his team gave that back to me and as I look ahead to retirement in a few days, I’m so grateful that I will be able to be an active, ALIVE participant in life.
