I had foot surgery on May 6th, 2016. Dr. Vargas was my doctor and I can not say enough about the surgery. It took a short time. The surgery was to remove a bunion. It was painless and the recovery has been great. I am diabetic and have to be careful with my feet. No worries, with the care I received from Dr. Vargas and his assistant Jenna. Thanks to you both! Very happy.

My surgery was months ago and I am so pleased with how well my feet have healed! My bunion pain is gone, I can hike and I no longer have foot or leg pain. I can even wear shoes that used to cause extreme pain due to the bunions. The scars have healed really well, and the added bonus is that my feet look really nice. Swimming twice a week has really helped my recovery process. With my feet back to normal now, I tend to forget that I even had surgery. I wish I had heard of Dr. Coetzee years ago. He knows what he is doing!

I had foot pain on my right foot for many years before I went to see Dr. Cammack at Twin Cities Orthopedics. He performed surgery on that foot and I no longer have pain. I highly recommend Dr. Cammack and his staff.

I have seen Dr. Szalapski for chronic pain in my shoulder, as well as ongoing monitoring of foot deformities caused by Charcot Foot syndrome. The shoulder was resolved with shot of cortisone (which I barely felt). Being severely diabetic, I believe I can say with honesty that without his recommendations and care, I would have lost one or both of my feet by now. Under Dr. Szalapski’s guidance, I have also seen several other providers in that same office for one surgery on a finger and two on a foot. One of the foot injuries could have been crippling, but healed wonderfully. I am a nurse by trade, so my standards are pretty exacting. I heartily recommend the entire staff there, and especially Dr. Szalapski.

After a lengthy struggle in getting my foot pain diagnosed as fractured sesamoid bones and being told by my provider that I had to live with the pain for the rest of my life (I was in my 50’s) at the time, I was left discouraged until I met Dr. Coetzee who made a written recommendation to my healthcare providers (At that time, my insurance didn’t cover Dr. Coetzee). I was able to get the authorization, surgery and care from Dr. Coetzee for several breaks with complete recovery and return to activities. The care from the initial phone call for an appointment, the efficient way his staff deals with pre and post surgery needs (meds, temp disability tags, medical equipment, etc) and Dr. Coetzee’s personal and professional assessment and style in providing excellent care put together an amazing package of treatment and recovery to resume my life as I wanted. Walking, skiing, outdoor activities and all things that require being able to be on my feet is a quality of life issue for me. I can’t state strongly enough how important it is to get a good diagnosis and treatment for foot conditions. My journey with broken sesamoid bones and being in Dr. Coetzee’s amazing care has been life changing, allowing me to be active and pain free. I am in my 60’s, always been active and my vocation and avocation requires being on my feet a lot. Had I not gotten the care from Dr. Coetzee I believe I would be significantly limited in continuing my active lifestyle.

On August 20,2004, I was hit head on by an impaired driver. I sustained many injuries, but one of the worst was my right ankle. Another “Orthopedic specialist” botched my recovery with terrible advice and literally no treatment. I was left with a crippled and horrendously painful and debilitated ankle. My ability to function at age 43 was minimal. Then I found Dr. Coetzee! In August, 2005, he performed a miraculous surgery, which quite literally gave me my life back!! At age 53, I am still riding and competing with my horses, and break colts and give riding lessons and train for the public. I can never thank him enough for giving me the ability to walk again! Thank You Dr. Coetzee!

I got rheumatoid arthritis when I was 19 years old. Years later, while walking, one of my toe joints broke due to deterioration. I “got a bunion over lunch hour.” I was lucky enough to meet this amazing and wonderful doctor. Within a couple of months, three joints dissolved. Bunion removed, and the joints on the toes removed and fused. NO MORE pain. Dr. McGarvey is my hero. There is no one better and he is worth the wait. I have sent many people to him.

Theresa W.

Theresa W. is an active mother of two who was slowed by a foot injury. After a difficult and painful year, she met with Scott McGarvey, MD to discuss treatment options. Dr. McGarvey took the time to listen to Theresa’s story and how her situation affected her life. “Dr. McGarvey genuinely cared and really wanted to help me,” said Theresa. He “wanted more time and more information to evaluate my problem,” which put Teresa at ease about what needed to be done and who she wanted to do the work. With young children waiting patiently for the return of an active mom, Theresa said that she is “motivated to continue what I need to do to reach that full recovery from surgery.” She is pleased to have met Dr. McGarvey and thankful to have received his care. “He is a skilled surgeon with a caring heart,” said Theresa.

Kristin S. had persistent foot pain for over 23 years, which made walking long distances difficult. Pictured in Israel, she was grateful to be able to appreciate her second trip to the country pain-free, unlike her first. “After having surgery on my feet [with Scott McGarvey, MD], I was able to enjoy the trip so much more,” she said. Being able to keep up with the group and focus on all there was to see and learn, rather than being distracted by her foot pain helped make the trip a great experience, she said. “I am able to walk without pain for the first time in 23 years. Dr. McGarvey was wonderful to work with and his work on my feet has changed my life,” said Kristin.
