I’m 48 years and had hip replacement surgery. I choose Dr. O’Neill since he does the anterior approach. It’s been 10 weeks since my surgery and I am pain free. I actually played basketball 10 weeks after surgery. I can’t believe how much better I feel and I wish I would have done it sooner. Dr. O’Neill was great and I would highly recommend him.

My husband Richard is 69 years old and had a hip replacement recently. At 7 weeks post-op he is doing fantastic! At first he contemplated seeing another doctor who performed this surgery using the anterior approach, which is advertised to have a shorter and easier recovery. After talking to Dr. Ridley, he explained to us that research shows that the posterior approach’s healing and recovery time was just the same. Not only is he a great surgeon, he is personable, friendly, happy, and takes as much time as you need to answer all of your questions. His entire team is awesome too. His care coordinator, his PA, and nurse are so helpful and knowledgeable. Whoever said that the anterior approach was the best way to go was wrong. Dr. Ridley performs the posterior approach and people can’t believe how great Richard’s recovery is going.

If you are considering having a hip replacement, please consider Dr. Ridley as your orthopedic surgeon. You’ll never regret it. We also highly recommend doing your exercises religiously and consider going to physical therapy. You’ll never regret either of these decisions. Thank you, Dr. Ridley! I fell in October and was transferred by ambulance to the emergency room. I found out I had a broken hip and I had surgery the next day with Dr. Bircher. Since surgery, I haven’t had any problems with my hip and it was a quick recovery. I had two follow-up visits with Dr. Bircher and I explained my knee problems. After looking at the x-rays, he explained the options to me. Dr. Bircher is a good listener and is very good at calming me down! He was very thorough. I would definitely recommend Dr. Bircher.

I am in my mid 50s and very active. By the time I came to TCO I was ready for a hip replacement. In our first appointment, Dr. O’Neill handed me the implant, explained exactly how it functioned, and described the approach he would use to implant the device. Dr. Peterson and the entire staff at TCO and the EXCEL Program were amazing. The experience itself was so well prepared and everything was communicated so effectively that I was completely confident in having the surgery. Great job by Dr. Ockuly’s team! I am one week out from hip surgery and have no pain in the joint. I am walking and bending with no issue. The surgery went well. His team answered all of my questions and took time to make sure I did not leave with any unanswered questions, and I do ask a lot of them! I only use one crutch outside since it’s winter and I don’t want to slip. I am walking inside without any aids, although I still grab the side rails going up and down stairs just in case. Overall, they did a great job using modern techniques and tools. TCO, Dr. Ockuly, Anne, Dani, and team made the top list and were absolutely the right choice for me.

I was referred to Dr. Lewis by my chiropractor and my primary physician, who evaluated my sore hip. Dr. Lewis reviewed my hip and found that I have osteoarthritis (bone on bone). He recommended that I have hip replacement surgery (THA). That is not something I wanted to do, but he guided me through the process, alternatives, result of surgery successes and life changes due to it. Needless to say, it was something that needed to be done for my quality of life. Dr. Lewis and his team guided me through the preparation, recommendations for making my recovery easier, and what surgery would entail. Dr. Lewis performed the surgery with zero complications for me. After a few days of pain relievers and Tylenol, I was up and walking. I no longer had the pain I lived with for the previous 6 months. Dr. Lewis was a man of his word when he told me my hip will be like new.

As the Mayor of Plymouth, I am excited to welcome Twin Cities Orthopedics to our community in 2023. As a long time distance runner (23 marathons), I appreciate the care that Dr. Hunt and the EXCEL Program has provided to me. I had meniscus surgery in 2019, again in 2020, and a full hip replacement in 2021. While my long distance running days are over, I’m able to maintain a high quality and active life without pain, continuing to work out and maintain my fitness. I cannot say enough of the great work that TCO is doing and what Dr. Hunt did for me!

My experience with Dr. Owen O’Neill and his team exceeded my expectations. With the advice of professionals and my own research, I was searching for the best doctor and Dr. O’Neill fit the bill on every level. He and his staff were very informative and covered everything that was going to happen and could happen. Ann, his care coordinator, was so timely and helpful with my scheduling and helping me at every turn, even when I had to reschedule. Isabel, Dr. O’Neill’s physician assistant, was so organized and got back to me quickly whenever I had a question. Casey, the other Physician Assistant, was so helpful as well. From the time when I walked in the door at TCO, to the person greeting me, to all of my interactions with staff, and right up to Dr O’Neill himself, everyone was so professional, friendly, and helpful. My life has been given back to me. I was on a crutch for 8 months. I can walk anywhere with no aids now. I am back at the gym 5-6 days a week, and will resume my golfing this summer. I was back on my feet very quickly with minimal discomfort and virtually little to no pain in the first few days after surgery. Walking normally seems like a miracle and it is.
