Total knee replacement is a very big deal. I am 73 years old and was extraordinarily pleased. Dr. Samuel Carlson’s entire team made themselves available to answer questions and relayed messages to each other and the team in a timely fashion. Additionally, my husband and I were abundantly inundated (in a good way) with materials and videos about how to prepare for the surgery, what to expect during the overnight surgical recovery, as well as what to expect following surgery. I am a committed fan of Dr. Carlson and his team. I have seen Dr. Troy Vargas for 15+ years, and he has done more surgeries on my feet and ankles than I care to count. Because of him, I am still able to walk. I have stuck with Dr. Vargas and have never looked for another physician. Why would you when you have the best? Thank you, Dr. Vargas.

When I went in to see Dr. TJ Ridley, I was in a lot of pain. He diagnosed me and told me what I needed to do. I was very reluctant when I went in, but Dr. Ridley and his whole staff made me feel like I was their only patient. I set up my surgery right away and that was the best decision I ever made. My surgery went so well. It took less than two weeks for me to start walking again. Dr. Ridley is a magician in the operating room. All my pain is gone, and I can ride my bike, walk the lakes, and go to the Mall of America again with my wife. Thank you, Dr. Ridley, for giving me my life back. I will always appreciate what you have done for me and my family.

Dr. Owen O’Neill replaced my right hip four months ago with excellent results. I highly recommend him to anyone considering this procedure because of his exceptional level of experience, surgical skill, and caring demeanor. Now I’m ready for the upcoming wedding of my son and a trip to Morocco!

For most of my life, I’ve been physically active participating in wrestling (high school and college), tennis, racquetball, and most recently, pickleball. Unfortunately, by 2023 my lift hip had become very painful. It prevented me from completing daily activities as well as playing pickleball. A friend referred me to Dr. Scott Anseth at TCO. A visit to his clinic confirmed my left hip needed to be replaced.

The thought of major surgery was very daunting and frightening. Fortunately, Dr. Anseth and his medical team helped allay my fears by clearly explaining the pre and post operative process.  In August of 2023, Dr. Anseth replaced my left hip. The next day at 7:30 AM Dr. Anseth was at my bedside explaining the success of the procedure and what to expect in recovery. The nurses during my overnight stay were very professional and encouraging.

My recovery has allowed me to continue my intense participation in pickleball. This past August, I won gold medals in doubles and singles at the Minnesota Senior Games in Saint Cloud. I love winning! My motto is “fun/won.”

I rolled my ankle many times in high school and college. From then on, I could sprain my ankle just by looking at it. By the time I hit 49, I could barely walk. It felt like I had a cheese grater on my foot constantly. Dr. Troy Vargas recommended surgery to figure out what was going on because he really couldn’t see anything on the X-rays or MRIs. Once he got into my ankle, it was apparent why he couldn’t see what was wrong with the tendons, because there weren’t any. They were so damaged they had disintegrated. He proceeded to repair my ankle and replace the non-existent tendons. Several years later, I still have not had a follow-up injury to that ankle, which is a miracle because I am less than graceful! Thank you, Dr. Vargas.

Dr. Owen O’Neill performed my direct anterior hip replacement with amazing results. No physical therapy was required versus the traditional procedure which was done on my right hip a few years ago. My recovery time was much shorter, and I had minimum pain. There is no question for anyone who is considering a hip replacement to have Dr. O’Neill perform it.

I had gone to numerous doctors before finally finding my saving grace, Dr. David Hartigan. I had been dealing with hip pain for quite a few years. I had just kind of gotten used to the pain. I had numerous injections, tried many different anti-inflammatories, physical therapy, aquatic therapy, and obviously the good ole “rotate heat and ice.”

I started researching orthopedic hip surgeons, and I came upon Dr. Hartigan. From the first fist bump to the end of my first appointment, he had a plan of attack set up and I had scans and surgery scheduled and completed within a month. By my first follow-up appointment, I was already cleared to drive, which was way ahead of schedule. I’ve been nothing but happy with my recovery thus far, and it’s been almost three years since my surgery. I’ve had a few days that have been a bit of a struggle but that’s because of my fibromyalgia flaring up more after surgery. I’ll take that healing pain over the hellish pain I was in before surgery.

My only regret is that I didn’t advocate for myself sooner. I am and will be forever grateful to Dr. Hartigan, his care team, his surgical team, the nurses and receptionists, and the physical therapists. You have all given me my life back. I can walk and play with my niece and nephew without constant horrible pain. I have been able to exercise more and have lost weight thanks to Dr. Hartigan and his team.

Dr. Aundrea Rainville promptly diagnosed my carpal tunnel syndome and referred me to TCO’s Dr. Eric Kirksson for nerve tests. These revealed the cubital tunnel compression as well.

Dr. Rainville performed the surgery two weeks ago with conservative anesthesia and excellent nursing care at High Point Surgery. The physician therapy xercises are working, and I expect a full recovery.

No post-op medicine is required.
