11 TCO Physicians Named To Minnesota Monthly’s 2022 Top Doctors List

Congratulations to the 11 Twin Cities Orthopedics physicians named to Minnesota Monthly’s 2022 Top Doctors list. The magazine’s annual list recognizes peer-nominated physicians who demonstrate medical excellence in our community.

Adam Bakker, MD

Dr. Adam J. Bakker, MD – Dr. Bakker is a board certified and Mayo Clinic hand surgery fellowship-trained surgeon who specializes in surgical and nonsurgical treatment of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. He focuses on conditions of the hand and upper extremities including minimally invasive treatment options for Dupuytren’s contractures and carpal tunnel syndrome, hand and upper extremity fracture care, arthroscopy, tendon and ligament injuries, upper extremity joint replacements, and microsurgery. He also has an active interest in international orthopedic care to underserved regions.

Paul Cammack, MD

Dr. Paul M. Cammack, MD – Dr. Cammack is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle surgery. His interests include complex deformity correction, sports medicine, ankle arthroscopy, arthritis including ankle replacement, and foot and ankle trauma

 

Chris Coetzee, MD

Dr. J. Chris Coetzee, MD, MBChB – Dr. Coetzee sees patients at the TCO Eagan facility. He serves as a fellowship faculty member for the TCO/Fairview Foot & Ankle Fellowship program. He currently serves as Immediate Past President on the board for the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS). He is an associate editor of the Foot and Ankle International Journal and also a member of the FAI Editorial Board, as well as reviewer to the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and several other orthopedic journals. Dr. Coetzee is also one of the Official Team Physicians for the Minnesota Vikings and travels with the team.

D. Charles Eggert, MD

Dr. D. Charles Eggert, MD – Dr. Eggert is a sports medicine fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic reconstruction of the knee, hip and shoulder.  He also performs total joint replacement and fracture care. His special interest is in the care of athletes, including ACL reconstruction, shoulder instability, and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.

 

David Gesensway, MD

Dr. David Gesensway, MD – For over 20 years, Dr. Gesensway has enjoyed practicing specialized, patient-centered care. He helps people of all ages understand their hand, wrist, forearm or elbow conditions, and assist them in choosing personalized treatment. Dr. Gesensway strives to understand which issues are important to you. He helps patients with surgical and non-surgical specialty care, including hand therapy, exercises, medications, injections, splinting, and casting.

 

Christie Heikes, MD

Dr. Christie S. Heikes, MD – Dr. Heikes is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship trained in sports medicine. Her surgical interests focus on athletic injuries including knee arthroscopy, minimally invasive ACL reconstruction, revision ACL reconstruction, meniscal surgery, pediatric sports medicine, and disorders of the patellofemoral (knee cap) joint.

 

Laura Koch, MD

Dr. Laura D. Koch, MD – Dr. Koch specializes in orthopedic hand surgery and has a certificate of added qualification in hand surgery from the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. She has been a practicing hand surgeon in the Twin Cities for 20 years. Prior to joining Twin Cities Orthopedics, she served four years in the U.S. Air Force at David Grant Medicine Center, Travis Air Force Base, in California.

Clare McCarthy, MD

Dr. Clare K. McCarthy, MD – Dr. McCarthy is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity and a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgery. She specializes in surgery of the hand and upper extremity, with procedures including tendon and nerve repairs, basal thumb joint replacement and rheumatoid hand reconstructions. She also treats fractures, nerve and tendon conditions, and arthritis of the wrist and fingers.

Amy Moeller, MD

Amy Moeller, MD

Dr. Amy T. Moeller, MD– Dr. Moeller was born and raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She completed her undergraduate degree at the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, MN with a B.A. in Natural Science and a minor in Sports Medicine. She attended medical school and completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota.

 

David Olson, MD

Dr. David E. Olson, MD – Dr. Olson is a primary care sports medicine physician specializing in a wide range of sports medicine concerns, including the diagnosis and management of concussions and acute and chronic musculoskeletal issues. Dr. Olson is an experienced sports medicine physician who has worked with various levels of athletes, from professional/elite athletes to the weekend warrior.

 

Maria Ryan, MD

Dr. Maria C. Ryan, MD – Dr. Ryan is a primary care sports medicine physician who specializes in the care of athletes and athletic injuries. Dr. Ryan completed a Family Medicine residency at the University of Minnesota Methodist and then moved out east to complete a one year Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Connecticut. She is also an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health where she works with medical students and residents teaching sports medicine. Dr. Ryan continues to be a volunteer physician with the Minnesota State High School League and Twin Cities Marathon. She also volunteers in medical tents for many local races and events.
