Thank you to Dr. Olmsted and Team for your work on my VERY arthritic finger joint! At now just over four weeks, my joint replacement feels good, moves well and I am finally typing, crocheting and writing comfortably again! At 51 years old I wasn’t ready to give in to stiffness and pain and your work is exceptional. Best thing I did in 2014!! You guys rock.

I cannot express how good of a physician Dr. Gesensway is. He is very compassionate and understanding. He puts you at ease and explains the procedure thoroughly. I would highly recommend him. He is truly an outstanding surgeon. The staff was also kind and outstanding. I felt so safe in their hands. 

Before his surgery with Clare McCarthy, MD (pictured on right), Shawn (pictured in middle) had suffered from severe pain in his right wrist and also had trouble with his left thumb for over 20 years. “I couldn’t sleep at night and it was affecting my quality of life,” he said. As an avid outdoorsman, it was also preventing him from doing the things he enjoyed. “I met with Dr. McCarthy and her confidence in the procedures she was going to perform won me over,” he said. My G.P. sent me to see Dr. Sherman in 2007 for lower back pain and hip pain. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and needing a new hip. Dr. Sherman operated in June of 2007 to correct the stenosis. Dr. Szalapski operated in August of 2007 to replace my right hip. Both surgeries went very well, I couldn’t have asked for better results. I have been back to see Dr. Sherman for neck pain and pain and numbness in both hands. I was diagnosed with carpel tunnel in both arms. I have recently had surgery for carpel tunnel in my right arm (Dr. Bakker) and I’m looking forward to having the left arm done. When Donna F. (pictured on right) injured her hand, the TCO Access Walk-In clinic at Twin Cities Orthopedics immediately came to mind. “I requested to be brought directly to the TCO Edina office to avoid long wait times in an emergency room,” she said. “Staff made sure I was comfortable while they coordinated care with the appropriate physician.”Donna ended up seeing orthopedic surgeon Stephen Olmsted, MD (pictured in middle), who discussed treatment options with her and her family. She proceeded with surgery to repair her broken fingers and said that “the care has been excellent.” She explains that in addition to having a high-quality surgeon her physical therapist, Cortney Bohnen, MA OTR/L has helped in her recovery. “I am regaining strength and movement in my fingers due to Cortney’s excellent hand therapy program,” she said.

David Gesensway, MD treated Thomas for Dupuytren’s contracture, which was affecting the middle finger on his right hand. “I am very pleased with my total experience from my date of surgery to my completion of physical therapy,” said Thomas. “Dr. Gesensway is a real professional,” he said.
