I chose Dr. Mair because of the amazing work he did on my bride’s right knee replacement. When I came to him with severe left hip pain, he reassured me that he would be able to help me get back to a normal lifestyle. At 58 years young, I have a lot I want to do so full recovery is my goal. From the very start, every person I met at the TCO clinic and along the way, have just been so dang caring and have given me so much of their time.

From the day of surgery to my continued follow up appointments, the TCO staff have been with me. I have had several setbacks (from my own doing) and they have been there with advice, therapy, phone calls, urgent care on Sunday, etc. to check on me…even over the weekends. I deeply feel that they genuinely care about my success, which has been very meaningful since replacement surgery includes work and rough moments at times in the healing.

I just finished my 90 days of the program and met with Dr. Mair to review X-rays and progress. I left knowing that I am on the right track and that he is there if I need him, even though the program is completed. His personal accountability to his patients is so refreshing and, to be honest, very valuable in the healing process. I am gaining strength, flexibility, and leaving the pain behind more each day. I fully believe him when he told me I will be out pheasant hunting and chasing my granddaughters. I highly recommend Dr. Mair and TCO.

It has been 3 years already since both of my hips were replaced by Dr. Owen O’Neill. What an awesome guy and surgeon. I am so happy and continue to explore new activities that were not an option to me prior to surgery. I would like to schedule an appointment just to give him a hug. Thank you, Dr. O’Neill!

Dr. Arntson has my respect as a doctor at the top of his profession. I saw Dr. Arntson for my hip discomfort and he earned my confidence from the first visit. I chose to have hip replacement surgery with Dr. Arnston and my expectations have been surpassed. I am over two weeks out of surgery without needing to take pain medicine, aside from Advil and Tylenol. I’ve had very little discomfort in my healing process and look forward to a full recovery. I am walking much better than I was before the surgery, thanks to Dr. Arntson. I truly recommend him for anyone in hip trouble. He is a top tier, skilled professional from start to finish.

For 5 years, I have known I needed both of my hips replaced. I put off the surgery and dealt with the pain until it started to affect my back. I knew I had to do something and finally, I had an in-depth conversation about the surgery with Dr. Lewis. I had high anxiety, not about the surgery or recovery, but due to waiting and thinking about the process. Dr. Lewis reassured me about the process. I finally agreed to have my right hip surgery done at the Minnesota Valley Surgery Center. As soon as I checked in, I was put at ease. The first nurse I talked to (without being prompted) acknowledged my anxiety and said it would be addressed. A short time later, I met with the Anesthesiologist. He too, without being prompted, said he knew of my anxiety and would take care of me. I was given some pills and was very comfortable leading up to my arrival at the operating room. I don’t remember a lot about the surgery itself but the rest of my stay at the Surgery Center was very comfortable.

They were a great and caring nursing staff. The entire visit, from the home nurse to the physical therapist, went smoothly. My follow up visit with Libby Witchger and Dr. Lewis went well and truly, the entire process went so well. I am considering have my other hip done as soon as I can. My biggest concern was the pre-surgery anxiety but because of the caring and concerned staff, it was barely noticeable.

After 3+ years of hip pain (which progressively got worse), I was referred to Dr. Owen O’Neill by a friend who had undergone a hip replacement by him many years ago. I was immediately impressed, not only by Dr. O’Neill’s extensive experience with this surgery, but also by his ability to communicate the procedure in layman’s terms and put me at ease with the overall process. This was a process and procedure I was very uncomfortable with initially. I’m now 2+ months post-surgery and, for the first time in years, am no longer spending each day suffering while engaging in simple ordinary day-to-day tasks. I look forward to getting back to all the outdoor activities I enjoy and thank Dr. O’Neill for getting me back on track to do so!

I would like to thank Dr. Anseth and his entire team for their excellent job done on my bilateral total hip replacement in January 2021. I was in extreme pain from severe arthritis in both hips and unable to walk without canes or crutches. When I woke up after surgery, my pain level decreased to a level 2 or 3. The arthritic hip pain before hip replacement was unbearable. Today my hips are pain free, I am able to walk pain free, and will be returning to work on May 1, 2021.

Thank you again to Dr. Scott Anseth, his assistant Heidi, the entire surgery team and therapy team. I would rate the entire process of surgery, recovery, and therapy a 12 out of 10. Dr. Anseth and his entire team blew it off the map for me. Thank you!

Dr. Arntson is a very nice, kind, and personable physician. He was recommended to me by another surgeon when I discovered I needed to have a second hip replacement. 10 years ago I had my right hip replaced and the surgeon used the posterior method, which was common at that time. It was a long and painful recovery. I heard of the anterior method and my previous surgeon did not perform that type of surgery so he referred me to Dr. Arntson. I can’t even begin to explain what a pleasant difference it was between the two procedures.

Anterior procedure is surgery whereby the incision is on the front of the hip area and no muscles are cut. This alone speeds the healing process tremendously. The surgery required a one-night hospital stay at Mercy Hospital. I was treated very well! I was up and walking around, doing therapy the same day as surgery, and with no pain! I felt very comfortable going home the next afternoon. Minimal use of pain medication was required when used alternatively with extra strength Tylenol and Ibuprofen. No out-patient PT was necessary either. I just exercised and walked at home. I am at the 6 week post-surgery mark, walking normally and pain free. I don’t have any fears about this anterior procedure. I would highly recommend it and Dr. Arntson!

At age 71 and very active in sports, I dreaded the whole thought of a hip replacement. Dr. Szalapski was recommended to me from a friend that I ski race with. I went for all the usual tests and found out I had bone on bone in my hip. It was then that I met the rest of the “A Team”. Dr. Szalapski introduced me to Jessica, his care coordinator and Tracy, his physician assistant. I booked the surgery and the whole process went without a hitch. My phone calls were returned promptly, appointments were made quickly and all of my questions were answered. I am a month out from surgery and am walking every day without pain. Thank you to the A team. I am looking for another hip replacement because the other one is fine at the moment, but I would very highly  recommend my team at Twin Cities Orthopedics.

I had a right hip replacement in 2011 by a different physician and one in December 2020, performed by Dr. Arntson. The comparison to my previous surgery and the most recent one was a night and day difference. My short term stay at the Blaine Orthopedic Surgery Center was great and the staff were too. I am 6 weeks post-surgery and I feel almost like I did before surgery! The total experience was great. I have my life back now! Thank you!
