I had both knees replaced by Dr. Hartigan. One in 2023 & the other in 2024. 5 weeks after my 2nd surgery, my newly replaced knee became infected. The infection got in my blood stream & moved to my other knee (apparently bacteria is attracted to metal) and to form a large abscess in one of my wrists. Dr. Hartigan & one of his colleagues performed 3 surgeries. One to remove the abscess and the other 2 were to “wash out” both knees (2 wash outs on each knee).

I’m now on my way to making a full recovery. I continue to be so grateful for the care that Dr. Hartigan, Aaron (his PA), Grace Ann (Care team) and others on his team provided throughout my journey. Obviously, none of us wanted the infection to occur. But that is always a risk with surgery and, given that it did, I can’t imagine a better team that I’d want to have on my side throughout. They are all are truly amazing, and I feel such deep gratitude for all of them.

Dr. Schmiesing and his team were amazing throughout the entire process. Beginning with my first visit to evaluate options for my knee pain, Dr. Schmiesing was understanding and listened to my concerns. He then provided me with the options available and a real-life approach to treatment for my knee pain. When the time came to schedule surgery for total knee replacement, Dr. Schmiesing and team were extremely helpful in answering all of my questions and getting me scheduled for surgery. Surgery and recovery went smoothly with no problems. The rehab process has also been a great experience. Many have said that you will wonder why you waited so long to have the surgery, which I did not believe at the time. Now I can honestly say I am happy to have had the surgery, and my experience has exceeded expectations. Thanks to Dr. Schmiesing, his team and the Excel program and post-surgery care team!

I have nothing but praise for the care I received from Dr. Gilbertson. After a nasty fall down my outside stairs, I was rushed to Southdale Medical and had the good fortune of Dr. Gilbertson as my surgeon. He was clear and explicit with what he would do in a total hip replacement surgery and also outlined possible unpleasant outcomes. Surgery was excellent. I recovered quickly after my June 2024 surgery and visited the doctor again this week for follow up. I was so pleased to see how my femur and bones healed beautifully. Dr. Gilbertson is among the best in this field!

Dr. Michael Johnson did my first knee replacement here in Red Wing. I only needed a partial. He did an outstanding job. My quality of life was improved. I could hike and walk again pain free. When my other knee failed, I knew I wanted Dr. Johnson to do the surgery on this knee as well. Dr. Johnson is now with TCO and there was no question that I would follow him to the Twin Cities. It has been 7 weeks since my surgery and I feel strong and confident. Dr. Johnson listened and answered all my questions. Jen, his Clinical Care Coordinator is very professional and helpful as well. I am grateful for the outcome of my surgery and am looking forward to an active summer with hiking and biking.

 Dr. O’Neill performed a hip replacement on my right hip a little over 2 months ago. I am on the younger end of getting a hip replacement, so I was nervous as I did not have many others my age to talk to about the recovery etc. The surgery and my recovery went smoothly. I was up and moving immediately and was never in any pain. I am now able to walk up the stairs in my house as opposed to crawling up them. I no longer have lower back pain. I can walk my dog for miles and even play pickleball. I have also noticed a positive change in my mental health. I would highly recommend Dr. O’Neill and his staff if you need a hip replacement.

I had surgery with Dr. Dwivedi to transfer a tendon to my thumb after a tendon ruptured and I couldn’t move my thumb. I had a really great experience with Dr. Dwivedi and the healing went great. Dr. Dwivedi is an excellent surgeon who is caring and thorough during all his follow-up visits. He is a polite and courteous surgeon who cares about his patients. I had a great time with therapy after my surgery, and I also realized that the quality of a surgeon is most important for recovery. I would highly recommend TCO for any orthopedic issues.

I am 19 days post op and feeling much better than before surgery. I had a back laminectomy on L4-L5. I had numbing in my feet as well as pain in my legs and back before surgery. Now I have little pain in my back from the incision and no pain in my legs and a little numbing in toes. I did surgery because not being able to walk very far without pain was affecting my quality of life. To let you know, this is my first surgery, and I am 65 years old, so it was scary. Dr. Green is a very good listener of your problems and what you have going on medically. He even came back to the hospital the next morning to see how I was doing and to answer any questions I had. I am very pleased to have had Dr. Green do my surgery.

I am a 63-year-old male with a lifetime of playing the electric guitar. I started when I was 3 years old after I discovered a Christmas present that was hidden but not yet wrapped. It has been my life-long passion, and just to illustrate this fact, from mid-2023 to the end of 2024 I logged over 740 hours of practice time, actual fingers on the fret board. Yes, I actually log every hour of practice.

I started having difficulty with numbness in my fingers in 2024 and it progressively grew worse. I started waking up at night with an agonizing burning sensation in my hand, and then I started to lose the ability to perform. I started trending down in logged hours as I gradually lost my abilities little by little, as I experienced more and more discomfort and numbness. For someone this dedicated to my craft, I cannot tell you how devastating that was. I was losing my ability to even feel the strings.

When I made my appointment to meet Dr. Dwivedi, I must admit I was quite nervous. But I was soon impressed with the doctor and his staff as he really listened to my explanation of my symptoms and the fear of never recovering my former abilities.

It’s been two weeks today since my surgery, and I recovered so much of my tactile senses immediately, as it improves steadily as the days progress. I had NO PAIN after the surgery, none at all! In fact, I started playing guitar by the second day after my surgery!

I can only say that I am truly impressed, and I will not hesitate to see Dr. Dwivedi again, and much sooner if my other hand starts to give me trouble.

I came to TCO to seek help with sciatic nerve pain that I was not able to get addressed in a timely manner in my home area. The time between the first appointment consultation to the recommendation and execution of a cure was less than seven weeks. The result was obtained and allowed me to confidently move on with knee replacement that was also needed. The entire staff of experts I worked with at TCO are excellent and provided me with good information before and after the surgery that was required. I walked in that morning and out in the afternoon pain free. Again, this was all accomplished in a six-week window. Eight weeks sooner than I could even have been seen at our local orthopedic resources.
