On May 23rd 2019, I had my left hip replaced by Dr. Arntson through the EXCEL joint replacement program.  He has an excellent bed side manner and is truly a compassionate man. I was apprehensive at first but after meeting him and his team, I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Arntson and his team are true professionals. Through my journey, pre and post-op, the whole team was awesome. I highly recommend him, TCO, and his staff for your surgical needs.

I had been suffering with severe pain and numbness in my shoulder and right arm from a pinched nerve in my neck. It was so bad I couldn’t even push or pull a door open. I wasn’t able to get the care I needed from another provider so I called Twin Cities Orthopedic on a Wednesday. They got me in to see Dr. Banks the following Monday. After looking at scans of my neck he recommended spinal fusion surgery, which was performed that Thursday. When I woke up from surgery, the pain was completely gone and strength had returned to my hand. Now six weeks later, I am back to full activities, including playing tennis again, which I was afraid wouldn’t happen. I can’t say enough about the care I received from Twin Cities Orthopedics and Dr. Banks.

Had total hip replacement surgery February 2019. Surgery performed by Dr. Erik Wetter. Everything went as planned. Prior to surgery, I was in constant pain, some days worse than others, but it was always there. Walked with a limp, trips around the block were about as far as I could comfortably do. One week after surgery, was able to walk without any assistance (walker or cane). At four weeks post-surgery, started going for daily walks, building up to 3.5 miles at a time, with the pain decreasing and the time per mile decreasing, and length of stride increasing. During the past month (3-4 months post-surgery), have been hiking in the mountains of Utah, canoeing, and bike riding, all with NO hip pain or movement restrictions. Now I wonder why I waited so long to have this procedure done. It’s really nice to be able to do normal daily activities without any pain. Dr. Wetter did a wonderful job replacing my hip, and he was also great to deal with prior to surgery, and at my follow-up appointments. I would highly recommend him.

After suffering for years with osteoarthritis pain in both thumb joints, Dr. Gerlach guided me progressively from least invasive treatment to eventual surgeries. He administered steroid injections over several years until they were no longer effective. Dr. Gerlach did both of my thumb joint reconstructive surgeries with complete success. Although the recovery for each was 3 months, I am so thankful to now be totally pain free and back to normal use once again. I believe that Dr. Gerlach is both an astute diagnostician and a skilled surgeon. I have referred him several times, and he recently treated a friend’s trigger finger successfully.

I’d been having knee pain for a few years and finally went to Dr. Allan Hunt to see what could be done. MRI and Xrays showed that I had nothing left and needed both knees replaced. I did the first one right after Thanksgiving and the second one this past March. He recommended the EXCEL program. I was back home in 32 hours after my surgery. With the EXCEL program, I did one night at the transitional care unit across the street from TCO Edina. It’s nurse to patient ratio 2 to 1!! Dr. Hunt’s team is great to work with- they make sure you know what to expect every step of the way. I couldn’t be happier with the results. I feel like have my life back. Thanks again, Dr. Hunt!!

Approximately five years ago I injured my neck, bulging a disc between C-5/6. It was a type of excruciating pain that would not be relieved. At the time, I chose to forgo surgery and did years of PT, chiropractic treatments, steroid spinal injections and isolated muscular therapy. These treatments helped but the lost feeling in my left arm and fingers, along with relapses of severe pain in the neck/back, caused me to reconsider the surgical options. It was impacting my quality of life and I could no longer pick up my grandchildren. So I decided to reconsider surgery. After meeting with Dr. Bartie at TCO, I decided to undergo a discectomy. He shared with me that I was a candidate for this surgery versus a typical fusion. As he described the difference, it made the most sense for me. This was great news since I had a colleague undergo neck fusion six months prior who shared that her recovery took 3 months and her neck mobility was still limited after a year. My surgery took place and after waking from the anesthesia, I realized all feeling had returned in my hand and arm. I also no longer had pain associated with the bulging disc. Two days after surgery, I was off all pain medicines and felt vastly improved from the surgical procedure. I returned to work within 2 weeks with full mobility. It’s foreign to be without pain but I consider it to be a miracle. Forever grateful to God, Dr. Bartie, and his team.

Dr. Knowlan is top notch! Every appointment had value and he was great at explaining the “why” behind what they were doing and what to expect at each stage of the process. Best doctor I have seen thus far.

I recently went to see Dr. Fey for knee pain and was very happy with the thorough care I received. He is an excellent physician who listened to my concerns and advised me with the best care options possible. His assistant, Erin Ferguson, was also wonderful to work with. She is knowledgeable, caring, and amazingly personable. I would highly recommend TCO and Dr. Fey/Erin Ferguson for your future orthopedic care!

I opted for the relatively new Tenex Procedure with Dr. Norberg, and I am SO happy I did! The calcified deposit in my shoulder was so large I had trouble just doing routine tasks…and/or moving a stick shift car into reverse. This procedure was much less invasive than traditional shoulder surgery, and I was awake & intrigued during the 30 minute procedure! I watched the ultrasound as the doctor used a machine to basically suck out the bulk of the deposit (after numbing the area.) I went to brunch at Perkins after the procedure, and after a couple days with shoulder pain, I was on my way to PT and getting my mobility back! Less than three months later I was lifting heavy boxes, moving…without noticing any difficulties with my shoulder. I highly recommend this procedure if it seems workable for the situation, and I recommend Dr. Norberg! Thanks so much!
