The summer of 2017 I did yard work and gardening with unbelievable pain. I was a very miserable 76 year old woman. On October 3^rd, Dr. Owen O’Neill and Jessie performed minimal anterior hip replacement surgery. The next day I left the hospital and walked into my house using the handrail to take three steps. Two days later, the walker and cane were put in storage because I didn’t need them. Tylenol was used for pain relief for the week following surgery just so I could sleep better. One week after surgery I drove to the grocery store and did several errands. Six weeks after surgery, I enjoyed an eleven day Panama Canal Cruise, walking to islands or from one end of the ship to the other on sea days. I ate lots of food but lost five pounds because I was so active.

Other positive results after surgery:
– My replaced hip feels like my original but pain free.
– I now sleep six or seven hours a night instead of three or four.
– People say I now look happy but before surgery I had a painful look.

Anterior Approach Hip Replacement January 2017:  I met with Dr. O’Neill in regard to hip pain. The pain was causing me to be unable to play tennis and I was trying to manage pain during everyday activities such as going up/down stair, getting out of the car, etc. Once we determined the pain was starting to interfere with my lifestyle at the age of 52, Dr. O’Neill recommended hip replacement surgery. NO REGRETS!! Since no muscle is torn in this procedure, my recovery time was excellent. I stayed over one night in a rehab center, went home, was on pain medication for several days and then was able to manage pain with Tylenol and Advil. I did not require a walker for more than one day, was able to use a cane 2 days after surgery, go upstairs, and get in/out of a car. My pain prior to surgery was GONE! Amazingly, 7 short weeks after surgery I was back playing tennis. My coach and team could not believe the difference in my mobility. After watching me limp around and hop on one foot for over a year, I was back to playing tennis with no limitations! Dr. O’Neill and his staff at TCO were a pleasure to work with. I felt well prepared on what to expect going into surgery and was simply amazed and pleased with my recovery time post-surgery. I have talked to other hip replacement patients and realize how fortunate I was to find Dr. O’Neill and the staff at TCO. To have someone perform the surgery on my hip with as much experience and expertise as Dr. O’Neill was truly a blessing. The care I was given before, during, and after surgery has been truly exceptional. I will be forever grateful to Dr. O’Neill, his staff and TCO. Should I need any type of orthopedic assistance in the future, rest assured I will go to TCO!

I had total knee replacement surgery approximately a year ago and I can honestly say that I haven’t felt this great in around five years. Dr. Hunt was amazing along my journey. He was kind, knowledgeable and had excellent bedside manner. I also was part of the EXCEL program. The suites were perfect for recovery and having one on one nursing staff available was a plus as well. The physical therapy was great because I was provided services often and it was right down the hallway. I am back to the person I used to be – being active once again and without pain!

After many years of living with pain in my left hip that increasingly limited my activities, I decided to have my hip replaced at age 56. I was referred to Dr. O’Neill by an acquaintance and after meeting him for the first time, I was sure that I wanted him to be my surgeon. He was professional, good-humored and took the time to make sure all of my questions were answered. I entered the EXCEL program and the surgery was done in their Edina office with overnight recovery across the street. I was discharged the following day with only a cane. I stopped needing pain medication after a few days and within two weeks no longer used the cane. Recovery was quick and I have no pain or limitations. My only regret is that I didn’t have it done years earlier.

I have very HIGH regards and review of Dr. O’Neill, Jessie Donovan and team. Each of them have given/shown me their desire to make life easier for me. Dr. O’Neill is always performing the latest procedures. To have such horrible pain and not able to complete even small tasks, it’s been a treasure to have relief. Dr. O’Neill has performed four major surgeries for me and all have been very successful. Two hips replacements and the latest are two knee surgeries. The recovery from the latest knee surgery this fall has been extremely easy and quick to once again get back to living. Life is so much better. I have suggested Dr. O’Neill to several others who have surgical needs and reports that I hear from them are equally pleased.

Before hip surgery with Dr. Meyer, I was in absolute pain and couldn’t do much. I couldn’t skate, my golf was limited to just using my arms, and I was not comfortable even just sitting around. Now I enjoy activities again and I am rarely limited in what I do.

I can’t thank Dr. Gulli and his team enough for replacing my hips and taking great care of me. I can now walk my dogs pain free! I have recommended him to a number of people. Thank you Dr. Gulli and team!

After dealing with increasing pain in my hip that limited my active lifestyle, I gave in to the fact that I would need a hip replacement. I was referred to Dr. Hunt and that decision changed my life. He and his staff made me feel very comfortable by explaining what to expect during every step my process from consultation to surgery and post surgery. It’s coming up on one year since my surgery and I’ve climbed to the top of a Mayan Temple in Mexico; went parasailing in Belize; and went zip lining in Playa Del Carmen. Dr. Hunt is a great surgeon and I would recommend him to everyone!

I am so thankful to have listened to advice to see Dr. Owen O’Neill.  It was all an extremely positive experience. He took time to thoroughly explain everything. I trusted him immediately and had an anterior hip replacement in which I was pain free after surgery. I did not need anything stronger than Tylenol and only a few days with that. I still can’t believe how easy it was. I want to do way too much because the pain is gone!! I am back to walking and cleaning my house and looking forward to cross-country skiing this winter. Jessie was so kind, helpful and encouraging and I did better when I listened to her! Ann was always so helpful and friendly.  What wonderful care I had and I highly recommend Dr. O’Neill and his team. Thank you with all my heart.

I am a 67 year old woman whose right hip was bone on bone. Dr. Owen O’Neill performed the minimal invasive anterior hip replacement surgery on me on November 9^th and I am amazed at the result. I spent one night in the hospital, went home with the ability to do steps, used prescription pain medication for two days and then was able to control the pain with just Tylenol. Additionally, I only needed assistive devices for two days post-surgery. It is surprising that no PT is required since muscles are not cut. I highly recommend Dr. O’Neill and Jesse. It is a relief to be able to walk again without pain.
