I cannot fully express my gratitude to Dr. Kelly and his staff for their care of my shoulder injury. I sustained a proximal humerus fracture in a ski accident about one year ago. Dr. Kelly’s diligent approach to my surgery and recovery ensured a return to my pre-accident range. The staff, especially Kaici, treated me with the utmost care and concern at each and every appointment. The communication at every step was clear and concise. I would strongly recommend Dr. Kelly as a surgeon.

When I first met Dr. David Anderson, my right shoulder had two surgeries in 6 months. Dr. Anderson looked at my shoulder and said, “First, you have to fix what is bad in the basics, in the foundation of the joint. And then you can fix what’s above.” He explained, “It’s kind of like trying to turn a double play when your 2nd baseman is looking and watching the sunset. You can’t do anything until everyone works on the basics, together.” That was in 2003.

Since that time, Dr. Anderson has worked on a couple of broken things, a few dislocated things, and just been a very good friend. And we’ve talked a LOT of baseball! He even helped with a puzzle in my pain research, because he knew about more sports related toys than anyone else — all for his patients, of course! Dr. Anderson is among the top sports physicians in the United States. We are lucky to have him among the surgeons at TCO. And, he’s a really good guy!

I was referred to Dr. Hunt from a friend who worked within TCO. She didn’t hesitate for a minute when I asked her. Dr. Hunt is not only an amazing doctor he is also a kind, gentle, caring, and very humble man. He always took the time to explain anything I had questions about. Before my shoulder surgery his team went above and beyond to keep me comfortable and relaxed before surgery and during recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Hunt and his team to anyone and everyone.

I had been in a very long estate clean out for 5 years (very physical) and had worn my left knee and right shoulder, which had been repaired two times. I had a revision done April of 2018. Came back great by June with full use (I’m a very active race car driver and car builder). Had my right shoulder fully replaced in March 2019, and as of today, May 1st, I have 90% of my use back. My wife had her knee replaced in the middle of April 2019 and it was my turn to be nurse. She is already walking with a cane and well on her way to normal.

After suffering for over 20 years with lots of pain in my left shoulder, I had a fall. That, of course, finally pushed me to have surgery that I had been putting off. Dr. Hunt was recommended to me, and am I glad! He explained everything to me in words I could understand. Then I had the reverse shoulder surgery. My goodness, that pain was worse than my 36 hour delivery of my 10.3 lb baby girl (with no pain meds)! But well worth it, as I am pain-free now. And my PT, what a sweetie. He answered all my many questions without rolling his eyes!

I have nothing but incredible things to say about my Physical Therapist, Kaci Platz. I was assigned to Kaci after my surgery for a torn shoulder labrum, that was repaired by Dr. Jason Barry (another incredible TCO team member). My shoulder had been in pain for the better part of 6 years prior to my surgery. During those years, I had been seen by other doctors and even received physical therapy and cortisone shots to “help” with the pain. One doctor went so far as telling me that I would probably have this pain permanently and would be receiving cortisone shots on a “regular basis”. My job as a UPS driver requires lots of movement and bouncing around in a vehicle, that was nearly impossible to deal with over my 458 nightly miles to Iowa and back to Minneapolis. My injury also caused me to stop playing guitar and drums. the slightest motions made it impossible to hold a drumstick or strum any guitar.

In December of 2018, I had enough of the endless pain that was impairing my sleep, work, and everyday life. I was referred to TCO by my personal physician at Fairview. Upon my meetings with Dr. Barry, I knew things were gonna be different. He did tests and asked questions no one else had before. After an MRI confirmed what we suspected, we scheduled an orthoscopic repair in January 2019. The surgery went very well and healing was slow. Being in an immobilizing sling was hard to get used to.

I met with Kaci and was impressed with her questions and how gentle she was at our initial visit. As most people would be, I was very guarded of my shoulder and wanted nothing to do with anyone moving or manipulating my healing shoulder/arm. Kaci was good about gaining trust and manipulated my shoulder with the lightest but necessary movements. Over the following weeks, I looked forward to physical therapy sessions, as I found pain relief following each meeting and gained strength through the assigned exercises. Through those exercises, and great advice given by Kaci, I am excited to say that I am on track to return to work nearly a month earlier than expected (pending Dr. Barry’s examination and approval).

As of this writing, I am pain-free and excited to return to work without daily struggles with excruciating pain and numbness. I hope to shortly start playing catch with my kids who are both in softball and baseball. I can play guitar again with NO issues!!!!!

I truly wish I had come to TCO earlier and avoided the pain and countless sleepless nights/days. I have recommended Twin Cities Orthopedics to anyone who has issues with pain and will have nothing but great things to say about my treatment and recovery. Many THANKS to the TCO team for their help with my recovery.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Lervick since 1980 when we met in junior high school. Now fast forward 30 years, and Dr. Lervick and I are still friends. I have also been fortunate enough to have him work on both my shoulder (rotator cuff tear, bicep tendon myopathy and arthritis repair), along with my elbow (chronic tennis elbow). Before both procedures, he had me do a lot of physical therapy so that we could avoid the surgery and keep me on the tennis court. But finally, the day came where surgery was the only option. Dr. Lervick was there from the beginning to the end. Recovery for each procedure was a short 3 months. I was back on the court and my shoulder and elbow have never felt better! I recommend Dr. Lervick to all of my fellow players and even those that don’t play. He’s a heck of a guy, a great friend and an outstanding surgeon! Thanks Greg (Dr. Lervick).

I would not trade in Dr. Hunt for any other knee or shoulder physician. He has very good bedside manner, he greets you with a pleasant smile, and he listens to what you have to say. I had so much pain in my shoulder and Dr. Hunt repaired my rotator cuff. When you look at my shoulder today, you can’t tell that I had a surgery. He is also treating my both kees at this time. Dr. Hunt,  thank you for all that you do.
